Part Time Pilates Instructor
Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre | Pittsburgh, PA

POSITION: Part-Time Pilates Instructor
DEPARTMENT: Dance & Fitness
CATEGORY: Part-time, Non Exempt
PAY RANGE: Starting at $40 per hour
Position Summary
Pilates instructors are responsible for leading a well rounded Pilates session to clients in a safe and effective manner. They should have extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics as well as experience working with clients of various fitness levels, ages, abilities and needs, including professional dancers / athletes. Pilates instructors must have a comprehensive certification that covers all pieces of apparatuses in a traditional Pilates studio and instructor insurance. A classical certification is preferred but instructors certified in a contemporary practice are welcome to apply.
Work Schedule:
Immediate need for 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. on Saturdays and hours starting in the Fall include Wednesdays 5:30-8:00pm. Additional hours are determined by individual availability and client needs. Weekends are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching a well rounded Pilates class (either mat or reformer/ equipment) to a wide variety of levels with class sizes ranging from private lessons to 25 people.
  • Communicating with the Dance and Fitness Manager in regards to scheduling needs like class coverage, needs of the studio and needs or questions of clients.
  • Creating quality, personalized sessions that address individual client needs and goals
  • Instructing clients on proper form, breathing techniques, and body alignment
  • Providing exemplary client service in line with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre practices and reputation, with a focus on client retention
  • Maintaining all Pilates certifications and continuing education credits
  • Maintaining the Pilates studio and equipment with a focus toward cleanliness and safety.
  • Processing client payments and personal availability though the mindbody software.

Qualifications
  • Comprehensive Certification in Pilates Instruction from a reputable certifying organization.
  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience
  • Experience working with professional dancers or athletes is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics
  • Ability to work with clients of various needs and fitness levels
  • Ability to maintain a safe, pleasant, and motivating fitness environment
  • Ability to provide individualized instruction with attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Mindbody software or similar booking software.

Physical & Technical Requirements
  • Must be able to teach Pilates, stand for periods of time
