Job description

Summary

The Systems Engineer, Electronic Security Systems (ESS)serves as a senior technical lead responsible for the engineering, integration, sustainment, and continuous improvement of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency's (PFPA) enterprise electronic security environment. This role provides lifecycle systems engineering support for a complex portfolio of security technologies, including IP-based Video Surveillance Systems (VSS), Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Identity Management solutions, and Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) platforms. 


Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead engineering resource for enterprise Video Surveillance Systems and associated Electronic Security Systems. 
  • Provide lifecycle systems engineering support, including requirements analysis, system integration, performance assessment, sustainment planning, and modernization initiatives. 
  • Develop engineering recommendations to improve system reliability, operational effectiveness, cybersecurity posture, and long-term maintainability. 
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry best practices to support future ESS capabilities and strategic planning efforts. 
  • Lead technical assessments and develop implementation strategies for system enhancements, upgrades, and new deployments. 
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of enterprise video surveillance and electronic security systems to ensure operational readiness and mission effectiveness. 
  • Analyze system health, operational metrics, service performance, and failure trends to identify improvement opportunities and mitigate risks. 
  • Direct troubleshooting efforts for complex system issues and provide technical guidance for resolution of hardware, software, networking, and integration challenges. 
  • Review technical changes, configuration modifications, software updates, and system enhancements for compliance with operational and security requirements. 
  • Coordinate scheduled and emergency maintenance activities to minimize operational disruptions and maintain system availability. 
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute assigned ESS engineering and modernization projects from concept through implementation. 
  • Develop project schedules, technical documentation, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies to support successful project execution. 
  • Establish and maintain program management artifacts, including strategic plans, technical roadmaps, and lifecycle sustainment documentation. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Security Engineering, or a related technical field and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience supporting enterprise electronic security systems; OR 
  • Master's degree in a related technical discipline and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience supporting enterprise electronic security systems; OR 
  • Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience supporting and managing large-scale electronic security systems in lieu of advanced education. 
  • Additionally, candidates must possess: 
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale IP-based video surveillance systems, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, identity management platforms, or comparable enterprise security technologies. 
  • Proven ability to evaluate technical issues, analyze complex systems, and develop effective engineering solutions. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports and executive-level briefings. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound technical recommendations. 
  • Experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bosch Video Management System (BVMS) certification. 
  • AMAG Symmetry certification. 
  • Software House C•CURE certification. 
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Government, or critical infrastructure security environments. 
  • Experience with enterprise systems integration, networked security technologies, and physical security architecture. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Systems Engineering Professional (SEP), or similar industry certification. 

Estimated Salary/Wage
