Job Description

Summary:

The Staff DevOps Engineer will serve as the organization's subject matter expert for Salesforce DevOps, leading the strategic direction, operational support, and continuous optimization of our deployment pipelines, release processes, and development workflows. This individual will work independently, partner closely with software engineering, quality assurance, architecture, product, Salesforce administration, and business teams, and ensure the delivery of reliable, scalable, and secure solutions across a complex multi-org Salesforce environment.

Success in this role requires deep technical expertise, strong ownership, exceptional accountability, and a proactive mindset focused on driving efficiency, reducing risk, improving release velocity, and advancing DevOps maturity across the enterprise. Expectations in this Staff level role include

strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and organizational skills, proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities and demonstrated history of ownership, accountability, and reliable execution of critical operational responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner and technical authority for Salesforce DevOps practices, processes, tools, and release management activities.

  • Administer, configure, maintain, and optimize Copado as the enterprise DevOps platform supporting Salesforce development and deployment activities.

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines supporting Salesforce Health Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Commerce Cloud, and related platform integrations.

  • Manage and support complex deployment workflows across multiple Salesforce organizations, environments, and release streams.

  • Define and implement release governance, deployment standards, branching strategies, code promotion processes, and DevOps best practices.

  • Partner with development teams to ensure consistent adoption of SDLC processes and release management standards.

  • Lead Salesforce DevOps governance by partnering with Salesforce Administrators and technical teams to mature source control adoption, deployment automation, environment management, change management, and release processes across the Salesforce ecosystem.

  • Support daily operational requests related to deployments, environment management, source control, release planning, and production support activities.

  • Develop and execute a long-term roadmap for Salesforce DevOps maturity, automation, platform stability, and operational excellence.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase deployment reliability, reduce manual effort, and improve developer productivity.

  • Support source code management and repository administration utilizing Azure DevOps and related tools.

  • Collaborate with software engineering, architecture, QA, infrastructure, security, and business stakeholders to align DevOps capabilities with organizational objectives.

  • Establish and maintain environment management strategies, release schedules, deployment runbooks, and operational procedures.

  • Monitor deployment performance, platform health, release quality, and DevOps metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve deployment issues, environment conflicts, source control challenges, and pipeline failures.

  • Evaluate new technologies, tools, and platform capabilities that can improve software delivery performance and operational effectiveness.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance related to DevOps methodologies, release management, and CI/CD best practices.

  • Participate in production releases, release rehearsals, system maintenance activities, and after-hours deployments as required.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational security, audit, change management, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8+ years of experience in software development, DevOps engineering, release engineering, or application lifecycle management.

  • 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce platform experience supporting enterprise-scale implementations.

  • Expert-level experience administering and implementing Copado within complex Salesforce environments.

  • Expert-level knowledge of Salesforce deployment methodologies, metadata management, environment strategies, and release management best practices.

  • Advanced experience supporting Salesforce Health Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud environments.

  • Strong experience supporting Salesforce Commerce Cloud deployment processes and release management workflows.

  • Expert-level knowledge of Azure DevOps repositories, branching strategies, pull request workflows, and source control management.

  • Deep understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies including Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and release governance practices.

  • Experience managing CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments, teams, and application platforms.

  • Strong understanding of Git-based source control concepts, branching models, merge strategies, and version management.

  • Demonstrated experience developing DevOps roadmaps and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Experience working across multiple technical teams, external vendors, and business stakeholders.

  • Willingness and ability to participate in after-hours deployments, production support, and release activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce Health, Service, Experience, Commerce, Data, and Marketing Clouds.

  • Salesforce certifications including Salesforce Administrator, Platform App Builder, Platform Developer, or Architecture certifications.

  • Copado certifications.

  • Experience supporting healthcare, regulated, or highly governed environments.

  • Experience integrating Salesforce with enterprise applications, middleware platforms, and cloud technologies.

  • Knowledge of deployment automation, DevOps maturity models, infrastructure automation, and release metrics.

  • Experience establishing DevOps governance frameworks and enterprise release management practices.

  • Familiarity with Azure services, enterprise integration patterns, and cloud-native application delivery practices.
