Position Summary

This Sr. Manager of Software Engineering team will be tasked to lead Engineering teams that are creating a best in class member experience focused on identifying, prioritizing, shaping, complex enterprise initiatives in partnership with Digital Product Managers. At CVS, this team manages the Specialty Pharmacy Dispensing system and platforms and this role must provide a digital-first perspective to help realize the business goals. This is an instrumental role in the oversight and execution of programs supporting several pharmacy programs that generate business value to the organization and touch millions of consumers. This role has significant relationships with business stakeholders (Strategy, Operations, Pharmacy, and other Teams) as well as functional teams (Product Managers, Architects, Design etc.) driving results in a matrixed environment.


This role works with a top-notch organization of software developers who identify, design and deliver technology solutions using Angular, SpringBoot, NodeJS Blocks/I90 frameworks, Native to achieve the defined business value. It is critical that you have in depth background in Agile Scrum development methodology. In addition, we are especially looking for someone who is very familiar with Angular JS, and NodeJS.


You will have an ability to manage large projects and collaborate with multiple partners, including the different departments across CVS Health such as: Retail, and Digital teams. We ask that you have executive presence, presentation delivery skills, and the ability to connect with diverse teams and levels of senior leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical oversight: Technical leader capable of designing and overseeing the build-out and operations of complex distributed systems at scale in a fast-paced digital organization

  • Engineering leadership: Able to technically direct, support, and evaluate the value, ensuring we are building best-in-class solutions that can scale to meet our future needs.

  • System performance: Monitor and optimize both team & system performance, identifying opportunities for enhancement and addressing any issues or bottlenecks. Establish KPIs and OKRs that unlock quantitative insight so we can change processes with confidence.

  • Talent management: Recruit, manage, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team while contributing to a positive and supportive culture, encouraging innovation, and driving a pragmatic balance of continuous improvement and effective value delivery.

  • End-to-end ownership: Lead a team from strategy through delivery in complex and highly visible engineering projects.

  • Prioritization and pivots: Guides team's work prioritization in alignment with our strategic objectives.Coach/guide engineers through pivoting as needed while remaining steadfastly focused on the overall objective.

  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with other technical teams (engineering, platform, design, security) to understand their expectations and develop solutions in accordance with appropriate guidelines.

  • Coalition building: Establish effective relationships with partners and customers, ensuring that you understand their vision and can help them deliver on their goals.

  • Risk management: Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate both internal and external risks. Communicate clearly on progress, challenges, and opportunities to stakeholders, including presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Staying current: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development, analytics, and AI technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of IT experiencewith a strong focus on engineering and software development.

  • 5+ years of hands-on cloud developmentinGCP/any public/local cloud , along with expertise in building applications usingAngular andJava frameworks.

  • 4+ years recruiting, managing, and retaining a high-performing team of software development professionals in an agile environment

  • 1+ year using generative AI as an integrated component in software solutions


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Angular, API Platform and full cycle development end-to-end, from strategy to execution.

  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies (RKE, GCP), engineering frameworks and tools.

  • Ability to diagram complex software architectures and communicate complex engineering ideas to non-technical stakeholders both visually and verbally

  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies (GCP, RKE) engineering frameworks and tools

  • Understanding and familiarity with CI/CD, cloud devops, containers (kubernetes/Docker, etc.), and GCP managed services.

  • Experience in large Retail, Pharmacy, a plus


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience (High School diploma + 4 years of relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $284,280.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
