Job Description Summary:

ModMed is hiring a driven Manager of Platform Engineering to lead the development of Modernizing Medicine's web solutions. Our mission is to build innovative, high-quality solutions for the healthcare ecosystem in order to increase practice efficiency and improve patient care. The Manager of Platform Engineering manages the development team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining such solutions. The incumbent is responsible for building a high-performing web engineering organization that deeply cares about its craft and our customers. As such, the technical leadership, the governance of development activities, and the standards and processes the incumbent will put in place, will drive our web organization forward towards that vision within a fast-paced Healthcare IT company that is truly Modernizing Medicine! This role is HYBRID and requires in office presence three days per week.

Your Role:

  • Lead multiple teams of Software Engineers committed to building the next generation of healthcare products

  • Grow the Software Engineering organization by empowering the engineers and managers and pushing down ownership and accountability

  • Align the Software Engineering organization around our mission, core values, and desired behaviors

  • Establish development processes, engineering metrics, and operational guidelines that improve the overall health of the Software Engineering organization through continuous improvements

  • Be a champion of engineering initiatives

  • Ensure products and releases are delivered on time and with high quality

Skills & Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams in a web-based application/service environment

  • 5+ years of experience with the Agile/Scrum development methodology

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Experience with object-oriented design and SOA based principles

  • Strong understanding of back-end development using system languages: Java or .NET, Web Services (SOAP & RESTful), and Web/Service-oriented architecture

  • Strong understanding of application lifecycle management tools for source control, continuous integration and deployment, and various areas of testing (unit, integration, load, performance, and vulnerability).

  • Good understanding of application and web server technologies

  • Strong commitment to quality, architecture, and maintainability

  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed

  • Experience with leading engineers

  • Good project management and product lifecycle skills
