Software Engineer – RPA & Automation.
Hybrid – Lafayette, LA | Direct Hire.
$70,000-$85,000.

Our client is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to design, develop, and support automation solutions that improve operational efficiency across a fast-paced, highly regulated organization. This individual will build scalable automations that eliminate manual processes, improve data accuracy, and support critical business operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex business challenges through automation, system integrations, and modern software engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities:
RPA Development & Automation:
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy automation workflows using leading RPA platforms.
  • Build scalable, maintainable automations that integrate with web applications, APIs, and enterprise systems.
  • Implement logging, exception handling, alerting, and retry mechanisms to ensure production reliability.
  • Optimize automation performance and maintain code quality through established development standards.
System Integrations:
  • Develop integrations between automation platforms and internal or third-party applications using REST APIs and other integration technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to support enterprise automation initiatives.
  • Support orchestration and scheduling of automated workflows.
Business Process Improvement:
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify automation. opportunities and streamline manual workflows.
  • Translate business requirements into technical automation solutions that improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Recommend enhancements to existing processes through automation and workflow optimization.
Production Support:
  • Monitor production automations and resolve issues through troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Enhance and maintain existing bots as business requirements and systems evolve.
  • Support ongoing automation performance, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Security & Compliance:
  • Develop automations in accordance with security, compliance, and governance standards.
  • Follow best practices for credential management, access controls, audit logging, and change management.
  • Ensure automation solutions meet organizational and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, or Robotic Process Automation.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more RPA platforms such as:
  • UiPath.
  • Power Automate Desktop.
  • Automation Anywhere.
  • Blue Prism.
  • or similar technologies.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C#, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, and system integrations.
  • Familiarity with Git and modern version control practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing automation solutions within healthcare, revenue cycle, financial services, or other regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform and cloud-based automation technologies.
  • Experience supporting production automations in an SLA-driven environment.
  • Understanding of secure credential management and role-based access controls.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
