Job description

About the Company
Valerie Health is the AI front office for independent provider groups. We are reimagining how independent practices operate by using AI to modernize patient/provider communication, enhance care, and drive industry-changing operational efficiencies.
Why join us now?
  • Team: We are led by Pete Shalek (2x health tech exits, including a $600M acquisition by Optum) and Nitin Joshi (scaled Uber Eats + Health, Stripe Connect, and Bridge-acquired by Stripe for $1.1B). Beyond our Founders, our team brings decades of experience from Stripe, Uber, and Meta, combining deep expertise in ML systems, large-scale infrastructure, and product design.
  • Trajectory: We partner with leading independent provider groups across the U.S., automating hundreds of thousands of tasks each month. Scaling at 7x year-over-year with 300% NRR as customers consistently expand usage.
  • Funding: We have raised $39m from world-class investors including Redpoint Ventures, General Catalyst, Primary Ventures, and BoxGroup.

Our technical stack combines:
  • Vision models to interpret unstructured healthcare data and build a deep clinical ontology
  • Language and speech models for automated, empathetic text and voice communication with patients
  • LLM-based workflows that integrate directly with EMRs
  • RPA and desktop automation to bridge fragmented and legacy systems

About the role

  • Collaborate closely with the rest of the team to shape product, business, and company direction. Help define and shape the culture of the company.
  • Build a production-ready AI infrastructure, integrating and fine-tuning models across voice, text, and desktop agents. Build a reinforcement learning system with internal and external humans in the loop.
  • Own end to end product surface areas that serve external and internal users. Build deeply empathetic and polished user experiences that raise the bar across the industry.
  • Design, build and scale a HIPAA-compliant backend infrastructure that's highly secure with strong availability and performance.

About you
  • Experience:
    • 1 - 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in computer science.
    • Previous experience in big tech or startups is a plus.
    • Demonstrated experience in building end-to-end products.
  • Attributes:
    • User-Focus: Deep empathy for users, with the ability to translate their needs into product features and prioritize effectively.
    • Work as Craft: Interest in producing elegant, polished, and high-performance work, finding pride and joy in the details.
    • Growth Mindset: Eagerness to learn new approaches, seek feedback, and continually improve skill sets.
    • Strong Communicator: Clear and succinct in both written and verbal communication, capable of adjusting style for different audiences and conveying technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Self-Starter & Adaptable: Proactively own projects from inception to completion, identify challenges, and offer solutions, thriving in a dynamic work environment.
