Job description

Job Title: Embedded Software EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate software for embedded systems. This role covers the full development lifecycle from requirements analysis and design to implementation, testing, and validation with a focus on delivering robust and reliable solutions. The role includes a strong emphasis on testing and validation to ensure functionality and reliability. In addition to technical development, the ideal candidate will contribute to proposal efforts by translating requirements into actionable work tasks and providing accurate effort estimates. Strong communication skills and the ability to present and explain software solutions to internal teams and customers are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Perform full lifecycle development for embedded systems, including implementation, unit testing, integration, and formal sell-off testing.
  • Review customer requirements, translate them into specifications, and produce technical documentation, designs, operational concepts, and estimate effort.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of software with electronic components and boards.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures; perform debugging, troubleshooting, and ensure compliance with functional specifications.
  • Conduct design and code reviews, resolve defects, and adhere to established development processes, configuration management, and release practices.
  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and automated test scripts for embedded software systems.
  • Review and interpret system and software requirements, ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and debug embedded software applications using C and Python.
  • Perform integration, verification, and validation testing on embedded hardware and software components.
  • Participate in software architecture discussions, code reviews, and design evaluations.
  • Develop new features, enhance existing functionality, and troubleshoot software issues throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Utilize instrument control (single-board computers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies) for hardware and software validation.
  • Collaborate closely with software and hardware engineers to troubleshoot and resolve defects, performance issues, and integration challenges.
  • Maintain test and development documentation, including test cases, software design records, results, and compliance reports.
  • Support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated build, testing, and release processes.
  • Conduct formal verification activities and provide evidence of requirement compliance.
  • Present development progress, test results, and technical findings to internal teams and customers.
  • Support root cause analysis of field issues and implement corrective software solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on software quality, reliability, maintainability, and performance.
Essential Skills

The work schedule follows a 9/80 format, offering longer weekends every other week. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
