We simplify communications and networking for business and government agencies. Our customers include many of the Fortune 500, and Gartner recognizes us as an industry leader. We have the broadest portfolio of technology and integrated partnerships, as well as our private network, which we use to create tailored solutions design, deployment, and ongoing management, driving cost savings, efficiency, innovation, and the ability to focus on core objectives.

In order to achieve this, we offer an environment where all professionals can grow and develop their skills and competencies, collaborate with diverse professionals, share knowledge and enjoy a rewarding career.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Bruin Software Engineering Team in NYC!
The Senior Software Engineer will lead a major platform modernization - migrating a complex legacy enterprise web applications to a modern, maintainable code stack. You will work directly with Claude Code (Anthropic's AI-powered engineering tool) as a core part of your workflow, directing it to generate and validate code while applying your own judgment on architecture and quality. We work across the full stack - cloud infrastructure, APIs, databases, and frontend - and we move fast. We value engineers who take ownership, think deeply, and deliver.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Migration Leadership: Own the end-to-end rewrite of a production enterprise web application to a modern stack (NestJS, React/TypeScript, Temporal.io), executing module by module with backwards compatibility to the existing MSSQL database.
  • AI-Augmented Engineering: Use Claude Code as a primary tool - directing it to generate, refactor, and validate code while applying your judgment to review output and make architectural decisions.
  • Full-Stack Development: Build across backend (Javascript, Python, NestJS/Node.js), frontend (React + TypeScript), and data layers (TypeORM + Microsoft SQL Server).
  • Workflow Engineering: Migrate legacy BPT-style process flows to Temporal.io, including long-running processes, human task queues, timers, and conditional logic.
  • API & Integration: Design and maintain RESTful APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger documentation. Manage clean contracts between new and legacy modules during transition.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Deploy and manage solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and containerised deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Code Quality: Establish engineering standards for the new codebase, conduct code reviews, and write well-tested, maintainable code.
  • Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and model effective, responsible use of AI-assisted development tooling.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be a strong engineer with the fundamentals and judgment to work effectively alongside AI tooling.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering with a track record of delivering production systems.
  • Strong TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js experience; NestJS or similar backend framework.
  • Solid React experience building complex, data-driven web applications.
  • Relational database experience and proficiency with ORM frameworks; MSSQL a strong plus.
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hands-on DevOps - CI/CD, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Comfort reading and reasoning about systems you didn't build - legacy codebase analysis is central to this role.
  • Openness to AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as a core part of your engineering workflow.
  • Strong communication skills; able to articulate technical decisions to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

NICE TO HAVE:
  • C# or other strongly-typed backend language experience.
  • Data pipeline experience (Apache Airflow, Apache Flink, Kafka, or similar).
  • Workflow/orchestration engine experience (Temporal.io, Conductor, or similar).
  • Figma familiarity - able to work directly from design files without handoff friction.
  • Experience migrating from a low-code or legacy enterprise platform.
  • Certifications in AWS, Azure, GCP, or Kubernetes.
