Job description

PURPOSE

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead a team of engineers & developers in designing, building, and maintaining high-quality software systems and platforms. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and delivery execution, requiring someone who can both guide architecture and stay close to technology.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can mentor engineers, drive best practices, and deliver scalable, reliable systems in a fast-paced environment.

An important aspect of this role is also to support IT Operations team in ensuring stable systems & supporting issue resolution, as & when necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

•            Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers &/or developers, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning.

•            Drive end-to-end delivery of software projects, ensuring quality, scalability, and timely execution.

•            Collaborate with product, business, and technical stakeholders to define roadmaps and technical solutions.

•            Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across applications and services.

•            Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and critical technical decisions.

•            Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, coding standards, and development processes.

•            Leads QA practice to ensure best in class QA/testing methodologies are adhered to

•            Manage team capacity, priorities, and resource planning.

•            Promote the use of modern development tools, automation, and AI-assisted engineering practices to improve productivity.

•            Generate cost savings as part of delivery practices.

•            Is able to work with broader team (PMO, Application delivery, AI) on delivering broader IT mandates.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

•            Proven experience as a Software Development Manager with leadership responsibilities.

•            Strong background in software development and system design.

•            Experience leading and mentoring engineering, development and QA teams.

•            Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, and scalable systems.

•            Experience with Agile/Scrum or similar development methodologies.

•            Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
