Talcott Resolution is seeking a Principal Software Engineer / Architect to lead the design, delivery, and governance of Azure Cloud and Artificial Intelligence initiatives across Actuarial, Investment, and Enterprise Risk business areas.
Responsibilities:
• Define and own cloud and AI architecture, ensuring scalable, resilient, and secure solutions aligned to business strategy
• Lead Azure platform engineering and migrations
• Architect AI/ML and generative AI solutions
• Drive enterprise data platform strategy using Microsoft Fabric, Azure
• Establish architecture standards, design patterns, and best practices for cloud-native application development
• Lead delivery across multiple programs, providing technical oversight and solution governance
• Ensure security, compliance, and governance requirements are embedded into all solution designs
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into scalable technology solutions
• Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership on architecture, cloud engineering, AI adoption, and software development practices

• Hands-on experience designing and implementing AI/ML and generative AI solutions
• Strong experience with enterprise data platforms, data architecture, analytics, and data governance
• Strong programming skills in C#, Python, SQL, and modern software development frameworks
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and DevOps practices
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) and CI/CD pipelines
• Insurance, financial services, or highly regulated industry experience preferred
• Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure AI Engineer, or related certifications preferred
• Strategic thinker with hands-on technical depth and the ability to balance architecture vision with delivery execution
• Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and ownership skills
Compensation:
This range represents the minimum and maximum annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range. The base pay is based on factors including but not limited to experience, competence, and demonstration of proficiencies essential for the role. The base pay is just one component of Talcott's total annual compensation for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, long-term incentives and recognition.
