Job description

Overview

Join Esri`s team and build intuitive, high performance front-end applications that power mission-critical geospatial systems supporting Defense and Intelligence operations. 

As a Software Development Engineer II, you will design and develop modern web interfaces that transform complex data into interactive, visually compelling user experiences. Your work will enable users to explore, analyze, and act on data through responsive, scalable applications. 

You will collaborate closely with designers, backend engineers, and product teams to deliver seamless, end to end solutions, bringing together data, analytics, and user experience in environments where usability and performance are critical.

Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the St. Louis, MO area for this position. 

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain back-end services and APIs
  • Collaborate with front-end developers and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment speed and reliability
  • Ensure application performance, security, and scalability
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
  • Support production systems and troubleshoot issues as needed

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience 
  • Professional experience with web design and web front end development
  • Experience with front-end development libraries, such as React, Angular, Vue, etc.
  • Background building high availability and high scalability solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills and proven good judgement
  • Highly detail oriented with excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills
  • US citizenship with Active or Current (within 2 years of active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or STEM related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Master's in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or Stem related field
  • Esri certification
  • CompTIA Security + certification
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools
  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices and secure development pipelines
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments
