Software Engineering Manager

The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join the Support Equipment team located in Saint Charles, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services Software Engineering organization.

This leadership role is critical in driving the success of advanced Support Equipment software development, which underpins mission-critical aerospace and defense operations.

The Software Engineer Manager will lead a diverse and skilled engineering team working across multiple Integrated Product Teams to deliver innovative software solutions that enable the loading, testing, measurement, control, automation, and inspection of complex avionics and armament systems. These systems are vital in both production environments and in-field customer support, directly impacting operational effectiveness and safety.

Operating within a collaborative and dynamic program environment, this role reports to senior engineering leadership and requires a strategic approach to managing software engineering efforts throughout the entire program lifecycle. The work environment fosters agility and continuous improvement, encouraging close partnerships with customers, system engineers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure delivery excellence.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing software engineering and technical activities related to supporting program lifecycle software design, development, integration, maintenance, and delivery

  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals

  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Boeing First-Line Leader Assessment: To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor Degree

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship

  • 5+ years of experience in software development life cycles, configuration management and best agile software engineering practices

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader,tempmanager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course"Exploring Leadership."

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Production line testing of hardware

  • Experience with embedded and/or product based software

  • Automated test equipment software or support equipment software

  • Earned Value Management (EVM)

  • Lab instrumentation and software control of instrumentation

  • Department of Defense (DoD) contracted programs
