Job description

Ignite Digital is a missionfocused technology company delivering advanced software engineering, data modernization, AI/ML solutions, cybersecurity, and secure cloud technologies for Department of War and Federal partners.  Our culture emphasizes technical excellence, innovation, and strong client partnerships.  We are looking for a Software Engineer III in the Charleston, SC area to support a cybersecurity project for the U.S. Navy.  The ideal candidate has deep experience designing, writing, testing, and optimizing complex software systems, and excels in technical leadership, architecture evaluation, and handson implementation. This position supports highimpact DoW programs and requires expertise in advanced system analysis, software engineering, and modern development methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all phases of software operating system and application engineering, including design, analysis, modeling, development, and optimization at a highly technical level.
  • Perform full lifecycle application system design and development, ensuring robust architectural decisions and adherence to engineering best practices.
  • Assess system architecture and hardware limitations, and recommend new concepts, approaches, methodologies, and technologies for modern software development.
  • Define complex design specifications and parameters, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and compatibility across hardware/software interfaces.
  • Resolve complex interface design and hardware/software compatibility issues.
  • Perform requirements acquisition, definition, and data analysis to support architectural and implementation decisions.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and evaluate impacts on application execution and performance.
  • Perform systems modeling, database analysis, design, implementation, and testing.
  • Create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, including user guides, system documentation, and training materials.
  • Conduct integration testing and support a variety of computer operating systems and network environments.
  • Troubleshoot and provide customer support for software operating systems and application issues.
  • Analyze and document client needs and requirements, participate in customer meetings, and deliver client presentations when required.
  • Serve as a task or team lead, providing technical mentorship, enforcing engineering standards, and guiding development efforts from design through deployment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or mathematics
  • Candidate must be eligible for DoW TS/SCI upon hiring
  • At least five (5) years of directly related experience in designing, writing, and testing computer programs or databases.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of full lifecycle application and systems development principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with software engineering, system programming, modeling, analysis, and database development.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to code in at least three different modern programming languages
  • Experience supporting DoW or Federal programs
  • Experience support Information and Operational Technologies
  • Familiarity with secure development environments, RMF, STIGs, Zero Trust
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineering teams and clients
  • Proven ability to lead technical efforts or coordinate project delivery

Salary: $135k+ to align with education and experience.
