Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The student employee will be a contributor in providing software solutions, including design, code and testing, for a variety of academic and non-academic application systems.

*Bob Jones University or Bob Jones Academy students only*

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plays an active role in the design, development and support of various software applications used by business units at Bob Jones University and BJU Press.
  • Writes program specifications as needed from business requirements as well as converts designs and specifications into computer code.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of database structures and relationships

  • Working knowledge of object-oriented software technology

  • Understanding of the University's goals and objectives

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral

  • Logical and organized documentation skills

  • Problem solving and adaptability skills

  • Ability to work well with others

SCHEDULE:

Work must happen between 8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday, but is flexible with class schedules. The student is expected to work three 2+ hour work periods per week at a minimum.

Summer employment of 40 hours a week is expected. Housing is available, if needed(Bob Jones University students only).
