Job description

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Software Developer to add to our Platform Mission Applications Team. The Platform Mission Applications team members are responsible for integrating, deploying and ensuring Continuous Delivery (CD) of Mission Partner Mission Applications across all the fabrics utilizing tools such as Istio, Kiali, K9s, Grafana, Keycloak, Gitlab, Kustomize, Helm and ArgoCD. We develop deployment and integration manifests used to create required kubernetes objects, resources, policies, and components in order to deploy Mission Partners applications into our ecosystem. 

What You'll Do 

The Platform Mission Applications team members are responsible for integrating, deploying and ensuring Continuous Delivery (CD) of Mission Partner Mission Applications across all the fabrics utilizing tools such as Istio, Kiali, K9s, Grafana, Keycloak, Gitlab, Kustomize, Helm and ArgoCD. We develop deployment and integration manifests used to create required kubernetes objects, resources, policies, and components in order to deploy Mission Partners applications into our ecosystem. 

Platform Mission Apps Development & Engineering (MADE):This team focusses on automation development and sustainment (i.e. GitLab Mission Partner self service deployment pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code). MADE also develops and maintains the Mission Apps Padawan site. Platform Mission Apps Customer Empowerment (MACE): This team focuses on Mission Partner onboarding (e.g. mission manifest project development/integration, mission-bootstrap integration), configuration management sustainment, and catalog sustainment. 
Platform Mission Apps Tier 3 (MAT3, read "MATE"): This team focuses on Mission Partner Tier 3 support to include SOP/troubleshooting guide sustainment and sustaining Mission Applications infrastructure (e.g. mTLS gateways, third party tools, and Istio/Kyverno configurations and policies).

  • Ability to access secure facilities with SIPR & JWICS
  • Experience with microservice orchestration, with a heavy emphasis on Kubernetes
  • Experience with Kustomize and Helm
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with GitOps and CI/CD, with a heavy emphasis on Gitlab
  • 5+ years of experience in application deployment and release management.
  • 3+ years of experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, ArgoCD).
  • Experience with infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash).
  • Strong understanding of application deployment strategies (blue/green, canary). 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with advanced application and network troubleshooting, database administration, and PKI management
  • Experience with cloud providers, with an emphasis on AWS services.
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies.
  • Experience with various forms of automation, including simple batch scripting, pipeline automation, Kubernetes operators, and infrastructure-as-code (including terraform and ansible)
  • Experience with cloud-native application architectures.
  • Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
  • Experience with security scanning and vulnerability management tools.
