PCC has invested billions of dollarsin an asset-rich portfolio of upstream, midstream and downstream operations. InAlberta, this includes our MacKay River and Dover oilsands projects, DuvernayShale Gas and a 50% interest in the Grand Rapids Pipeline. PetroChina Canada is recruiting for a Senior Reservoir Engineer, Oil Sands, tojoin the Resource Management Team in Calgary.

Reportingto the Manager, Reservoir & Production Engineering, the Senior ReservoirEngineer will provide overall reservoir engineering support to SAGD start-upand well conversions, production optimization, reservoir management and safeoperations. This role will work closely with Production, Geoscience, andOperations to ensure reservoir inputs incorporated as critical considerationsfor both short term operational decisions and long term development planningand optimization.

Accountabilities:

The accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Workingwith multidisciplinary team members including Production, Operation,Geosciences, etc. to manage daily field operation.
  • Reservoirengineering support to SAGD operations, start-up, circulation, conversion,production ramp up and performance optimization.
  • Conductfield data analysis, analytical and numerical simulation studies toprovide operational strategies dealing with reservoir impairments
  • Propose,coordinate and review laboratory or field testing programs to helpunderstand and resolve operational issues and design mitigationstrategies.
  • Historymatch and performance forecast update of well/pads based on fieldproduction data
  • Analyzingfield surveillance data to ensure safe operations
  • Supportreporting internal and to shareholders as required
  • SupportSAGD new technology screening and field testing design
  • Mentorjunior engineers and/or internship students

Qualifications:

  • Relevantpost-secondary degree in Engineering and APEGA Professional EngineerAccreditation or immediate eligibility
  • An advanceddegree will be considered as additional asset
  • 15+years of related reservoir engineering experience with 8+ years of oilsands SAGD reservoir engineering experience required.
  • Strongexpertise in the numerical simulation of thermal recovery methods (STARSpreferred).
  • Familiarwith decline analysis techniques
  • Knowledgeof geological principles impacting reservoir quality in in-situ oil sandsdevelopment.
  • Software:Familiar with CMGL suite, GeoSCOUT, OSIsoft PI, Wellview or equivalent
  • Skillsto react quickly in a fast pace work environment
  • Abilityto fully integrate into a multidisciplinary team and ensure reservoirengineering considerations being incorporated in decision making
  • Strongoral, written, and organizational skills complemented with a strong workethic.
  • Abilityto travel to site as required
