Job Title: Software Engineer (C++/Simulation Systems) Location: Orlando, FL Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire Work Model: Onsite - 4/10-1st Shift Mon-Thurs Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the development and enhancement of advanced modeling, simulation, and training solutions for mission-focused environments. This role supports a sophisticated training ecosystem that leverages live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) simulation technologies, command and control systems, and distributed training architectures. The selected candidate will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, working on the design, development, testing, integration, and maintenance of software applications that support complex operational training capabilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications that support simulation and training environments.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute software development activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Analyze user requirements and system specifications to develop effective software solutions.
  • Develop logical and mathematical solutions to address mission and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate software with larger distributed systems and simulation platforms.
  • Apply software engineering standards, processes, and best practices to ensure quality and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot software defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare technical documentation, operating instructions, and software development artifacts.
  • Analyze system capabilities, interfaces, inputs, outputs, and controls to ensure software functionality meets program objectives.
  • Participate in code reviews and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Support the adoption and integration of new technologies, frameworks, and development tools to improve software performance and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 9+ years of professional software development experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 7+ years with a Master's degree.
  • Experience working throughout the full software development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following:
    • C++
    • Python
    • Java
  • Experience with GitLab or equivalent source control and CI/CD tools.
  • Experience developing software in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and software integration skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing and developing GUI-based applications.
  • Experience working with distributed systems architectures.
  • Experience with simulation, modeling, or training systems.
  • Familiarity with live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) simulation environments.
  • Experience integrating modern tools and technologies into established software programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and implement new programming languages, frameworks, and technologies.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical or defense-related software systems.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
