Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Software Developer for a contract position with a Major Financial Services Firm located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.
The Software Developer designs, builds, and maintains software related to complex enterprise-level financial applications. This role combines strong Full stack Java development experience with messaging, database, and front-end technologies.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain Java-based financial applications alongside senior developers and architects
  • Support data pipelines and messaging integrations using Apache Kafka
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and basic schema updates for Oracle databases
  • Build user interfaces using React, Angular, or Vue, and integrate them with Spring Boot backend services
  • Use standard React, Angular, or Vue tooling for debugging, scaffolding, building, and testing applications before deployment
  • Work with UX/UI designers to implement clean, secure, and performant front-end code
  • Use JVM and JDBC to write portable code for secure database access
  • Assist with deploying and configuring applications on Windows Server and Linux platforms
  • Write basic Shell, Python, or PowerShell scripts to support automation of routine operational tasks
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and other Agile/Scrum ceremonies
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and senior engineers to document designs, APIs, and procedures
  • Contribute ideas and fixes to improve reliability, performance, and code quality

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Working knowledge of Core Java 11/17 concepts, with willingness to learn additional Java/J2EE technologies
  • Understanding of object-oriented design and exposure to microservices and multithreading concepts
  • Experience with at least one front-end framework (React, Angular, or Vue)
  • Experience with Reactive programming
  • Familiarity with relational databases (Oracle or SQL Server); exposure to NoSQL (MongoDB or Cassandra) a plus
  • Basic to intermediate SQL development and query-writing skills
  • Some exposure to Spark or Scala is a plus, but not required
  • Experience building components or features for SPAs using React, Angular, or Vue
  • Comfortable working in both Windows Server and Linux environments
  • Basic scripting experience in Shell, Python, or PowerShell
  • Good problem-solving skills, clear communication, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset

Desired skills:
  • Familiarity with containerization concepts (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Java 11 Certification a plus
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
  • Interest in learning performance tuning and distributed systems concepts

Pay range: $49.40 - $59.40 per hour
