Location: Arlington, TX
Shift: Night Shift | 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
Schedule: 2-2-3 Rotating Schedule

Pregis is seeking a skilled Converting Machine Operator to join our Arlington manufacturing team. This position plays a critical role in producing high-quality packaging products while operating and maintaining advanced converting and finishing equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do
As a Converting Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring production equipment while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Production Operations
  • Set up and operate converting and finishing equipment with minimal supervision
  • Review job tickets and production specifications before beginning production runs
  • Verify materials and components are available and meet production requirements
  • Monitor machine performance, product quality, and production output
  • Maintain productivity, waste, and quality standards established by Pregis
  • Ensure jobs are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Track production counts and maintain accurate production documentation
  • Support efficient shift transitions through clear communication and documentation

Equipment Setup & Operation
  • Operate and adjust splicers, gluers, Straub applicators, label applicators, rotary cutters, register systems, and other ancillary converting equipment
  • Set glue rollers and perform line web-ups
  • Change printing plates, cylinders, and glue pads
  • Monitor and adjust tension control systems
  • Maintain print quality and registration standards throughout production runs
  • Perform routine cleaning, preventative maintenance, and machine inspections
  • Ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify production and equipment issues and implement solutions when possible
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and machine adjustments
  • Support process improvements focused on quality, efficiency, and waste reduction
  • Assist in training team members as needed
  • Recommend improvements to equipment, processes, and production methods
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department

Quality & Safety
  • Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Adhere to all Pregis Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ensure finished products meet customer specifications and company quality standards
  • Promote a positive safety culture through safe work practices and teamwork

Preferred Industry Experience
Candidates with experience in any of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:
  • Flexible packaging manufacturing
  • Printing and press operations
  • Flexographic printing
  • Converting operations
  • Film production
  • Packaging manufacturing
  • Label manufacturing
  • Bindery and finishing operations
  • Web handling systems
  • Print registration and quality control
  • Machine setup and changeovers

Experience with MBO, Stahl, Vacuum, flexographic presses, converting equipment, printing presses, web handling systems, or packaging machinery is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery and production equipment
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts
  • Occasional computer and keyboard use

Work Environment
  • Manufacturing production facility
  • Exposure to moving equipment and machinery
  • Indoor working environment
  • Temperatures may exceed 90°F
  • Humidity levels may exceed 80%
  • Noise levels may exceed 85 dB
  • Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible manufacturing, converting, printing, packaging, or related experience
  • Experience operating production equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Mechanical troubleshooting experience is a plus
