Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide academic support and assistance to students in the PSYC and/or SOCY designation, particularly Behavioral Stats.
  • Explain concepts and review material with students in one-on-one or small group settings.
  • Assist students in developing study skills and organizational strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust tutoring methods as needed.
  • Refer students as needed to other Center or campus resources.
  • Consult with faculty for course resources, guidance, and direction in their tutoring work. Communicate feedback with faculty to ensure effective support for students.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students.
  • Serve as positive role models and mentors, promoting a positive learning environment and academic success for all students.
  • Assist in LEAD Center marketing efforts including introducing themselves to the classes they are tutoring for and making classroom announcements for LEAD Center programs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate Fairmont State student or graduate student who completed their bachelor's at Fairmont State University
  • Minimum QPA of 3.0 or bachelor's degree in the discipline. Undergraduate students have received an B or better in the course(s) you intend to support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • A commitment to helping other students learn.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students.
  • Be empathetic, a good listener and patient with others.
  • Satisfactory completion of the training program.
