Job description

Behavioral Health Therapist

Since 1985, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless has dedicated its mission exclusively to providing services to people experiencing homelessness. AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. Our vision is to live in a world that is just and without homelessness. We believe that homelessness is an issue that can be solved through access to quality health care, adequate and affordable housing, and a living wage.

We are looking for an engaged and integrated Behavioral Health Therapist to provide individual therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, and behavioral health assessments. This person will focus on substance use disorders and other related disorders in collaboration with AHCH Behavioral Health and Medical Teams. The perfect candidate would have experience in treating a high-needs population with serious mental illness and emotional disturbance; we want someone who loves our population.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and/or group therapy to a limited number of behavioral health clients
  • Administer comprehensive diagnostic assessments
  • Provide Crisis Intervention services as needed
  • Provide behavioral health services on the AHCH campus, as well as through targeted and site-based Outreaches
  • Independent licensures may be asked to provide clinical supervision to practicum students/interns
  • Integrate with Medical and Psychiatric providers for holistic client care
  • Collaborate with other departments and serve as a BH resource to staff
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Participate in peer review of clinical documentation
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities within agency
  • Comply with all AHCH policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, or Marriage and Family Counseling
  • NM licensure as LPCC, LCSW, LMHC or LMSW (provisionals welcome to apply)
  • One-year related experience and knowledge of behavioral health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and trauma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work with people experiencing homelessness or other under-served populations
  • Bilingual or Spanish speaking
