Occupational Summary:
The Master of Social Work (MSW) Faculty member is responsible for delivering high-quality graduate-level instruction, mentoring students, and contributing to the overall effectiveness and growth of the MSW program. This role supports curriculum development, student success, and program initiatives while maintaining academic excellence and professional standards in social work education.
Faculty members contribute to the effectiveness of the University by working collaboratively on instructional policy, curriculum development, and faculty development. They serve as models of professional practice, exemplifying the values they seek to instill in students-integrity, compassion, critical thinking, cultural competence, and respect for diverse communities.
Work Performed:
  • Teach graduate-level social work courses in an online environment.
  • Develop and maintain inclusive, culturally responsive curriculum aligned with program outcomes.
  • Integrate University mission and strategic priorities into coursework.
  • Utilize instructional technology to enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Advise, mentor, and support students in academic, practicum, and career development.
  • Assess student learning and apply data to improve instruction.
  • Participate in program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Serve on department, School, and University committees.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program required; doctoral degree (PhD, DSW, EdD) in Social Work, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of post-MSW clinical or practice experience required; 3-5 years preferred.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent licensure preferred, especially for clinical course instruction.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education preferred; graduate-level and online teaching experience strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and evidence-based teaching practices.
  • Proficiency with online learning platforms (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Zoom) and instructional technologies.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, advising, and program development.
  • Ability to collaborate in program, departmental, and institutional initiatives, including accreditation and curriculum development.
  • Ongoing professional development and active engagement in scholarly or professional organizations preferred.
