What is a social therapist?

Social therapists are mental health professionals who use social interaction and group dynamics as central components of therapy. They help individuals address emotional, behavioral, and psychological challenges by fostering relationships and communication within groups or communities. Social therapists often work in settings like schools, community centers, or clinics, and may use group therapy, role-playing, or collaborative activities to promote personal growth and social skills. Their approach emphasizes the importance of social context and collective problem-solving in the therapeutic process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a social therapist?

To thrive as a Social Therapist, you need a background in psychology, counseling, or social work, typically supported by a relevant degree and licensure such as LCSW or LPC. Familiarity with therapeutic modalities, case management software, and mental health assessment tools is important. Exceptional interpersonal skills, active listening, and cultural sensitivity help build trust and rapport with clients. These skills and qualifications ensure effective client support, therapeutic progress, and adherence to ethical standards in diverse social settings.

Social therapists often work closely with multidisciplinary teams that may include psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, and community support staff. Collaboration involves sharing insights, participating in case conferences, and jointly developing intervention plans tailored to each client’s needs. About the Organization

Integrated Social Therapy, LLC is a community health clinic committed to serving the mental health needs of individuals and families in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and beyond. We operate with the mission of providing accessible, compassionate, and culturally sensitive therapy services. Our team is passionate about promoting mental wellness and offers a collaborative work environment where clinicians can thrive professionally while making a meaningful impact in the lives of our clients.

We have implemented telehealth services for all therapy sessions, allowing clinicians to connect with clients seamlessly. Clinical consultations can be conducted through virtual meetings or in person, fostering team relationships and collaborative efforts. We handle all administrative tasks, enabling therapists to focus their attention on client care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and provide short-term psychotherapy services through various modalities, addressing the needs of individual clients, families, and groups.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices in therapy sessions, including crisis intervention, couples therapy, family therapy, and addiction counseling, ensuring the use of the latest DSM for accurate diagnosis.
  • Collaborate closely with licensed psychologists, nurse practitioners, and physicians to create tailored treatment plans and assess clients for appropriate levels of care.
  • Utilize telehealth platforms and electronic health records to document client interactions and maintain compliance with organizational guidelines.
  • Provide psychoeducation and resource connections to clients with mental health disorders or dual diagnoses to support their recovery journey.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, quality assurance efforts, and clinical discussions to enhance service delivery and client outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our client population includes a diverse range of individuals facing various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and dual diagnoses. As an LMFT with Integrated Social Therapy, you will play a vital role in addressing these concerns through culturally competent therapy aimed at improving the wellbeing of clients and their families.

Qualifications
  • Must hold a current and valid LMFT license in the state of Pennsylvania, or possess a doctoral degree (Psy.D) in psychology.
  • A master's or doctoral degree in psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work from an accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience providing psychotherapy services in a clinical setting is essential.
  • Familiarity with telehealth technology and electronic health records is an important asset for this role.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience providing therapy services via telehealth platforms, including best practices for remote sessions.
  • Previous work in community health settings or with multidisciplinary teams is highly desirable.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of USD 75,000 to 125,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive compensation package, therapists are eligible for a sign-on bonus, as well as access to professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills.
