The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) plays a vital role in the mental health care team at the Keck Medical Center of USC, specifically within our Detox Center. In your capacity as an LCSW, you will undertake critical responsibilities that include:

• Psychosocial Assessment: Conduct prompt and thorough psychosocial assessments, utilizing your knowledge of human behavior and treatment dynamics, while considering ethical and risk-related issues.
• Clinical Intervention: Implement clinical interventions including supportive counseling services for patients and their families. Facilitate referrals to community agencies and services, and organize family conferences to assist clients with complex emotional decisions, such as end-of-life care options.
• Triage and Caseload Management: Effectively manage a clinical caseload, prioritizing high-risk cases while maintaining proactive communication with colleagues and management for optimal patient outcomes.
• Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all clinical interactions as required by policy, incorporating interdisciplinary plans of care and social service progress notes.
• In-Service Training: Provide educational in-service sessions for hospital staff concerning psychosocial aspects of care, fostering interdisciplinary understanding and collaboration.
• Quality Improvement: Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care by monitoring process and outcome indicators, aiming for continual improvement in service delivery.
• Competency Maintenance: Participate in ongoing training and development to uphold standards of care relevant to clinical practices and hospital policies.

Your work will largely be focused on individuals navigating the challenges of detoxification and substance dependency. You will provide essential support to patients at various stages of recovery, guiding them and their families through the psychological and emotional aspects of treatment. Understanding the unique challenges faced by our patient population, your approach will be informed, empathetic, and tailored to meet their diverse needs.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited educational institution.
• A valid California LCSW license.
• A minimum of two years of experience in a medical setting, with at least one year in oncology or cancer care preferred.
• Proficiency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstration of strong customer service orientation and interpersonal abilities.
• Capacity to analyze situations critically, solving problems promptly while exhibiting planning and evaluation skills.
• A commitment to excellence in both patient care and customer service.

While not mandatory, candidates with experience in integrated care settings or specialized training in mental health interventions, particularly in relation to substance use disorders, are highly preferred. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and the ability to engage with multidisciplinary teams will be considered advantageous.

This role offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $120,000 to $130,000, commensurate with experience.
