What jobs can you get with social media production?

With social media production skills, you can pursue roles such as social media manager, content creator, video producer, social media coordinator, or digital marketing specialist. These jobs typically require knowledge of content creation, editing tools, and social media platforms, and may involve managing campaigns, producing multimedia content, and analyzing engagement metrics.

Does social media production pay well?

Social media production roles can offer a wide range of salaries depending on experience, location, and the complexity of projects. Entry-level positions may pay modestly, while experienced producers working with major brands or in high-demand markets can earn higher salaries, often supplemented by skills in content creation, editing, and analytics.

What is social media production?

Social media production involves creating, editing, and publishing content specifically designed for social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter. This can include photos, videos, graphics, and written posts that are tailored to engage audiences and promote brands or messages. Social media producers often work with marketing teams to develop content strategies, monitor analytics, and adapt content based on trends and audience feedback.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a social media producer?

To thrive as a Social Media Producer, you need expertise in content creation, digital marketing strategies, and a solid understanding of major social platforms, often supported by a degree in communications or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, social media management systems (like Hootsuite or Sprout Social), and analytics platforms is crucial. Creativity, adaptability, and strong communication skills help you craft engaging content and respond effectively to audience trends. These abilities are essential for building brand presence, driving engagement, and achieving measurable business goals in a dynamic digital landscape.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in social media production, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Social Media Production often face challenges such as keeping up with rapidly changing platform algorithms, managing tight content deadlines, and ensuring brand consistency across multiple channels. To address these, it's important to stay updated on platform best practices, use scheduling tools to streamline content publishing, and collaborate closely with marketing and design teams for cohesive messaging. Regular analytics reviews can also help identify what’s working and allow for quick adjustments to strategy.

Job description

Navan's social team is looking for a Social Media Production Manager to be the operational heartbeat and creative engine behind our brand channels. In this role, you will bridge the gap between brilliant ideas and flawless execution. You will manage internal intake, keep our design and video pipelines moving efficiently, and act as our external-facing producer-sourcing top-tier creators, scouting locations, and managing talent.

You aren't just a task-tracker; you are a hands-on fixer, a systems architect, and have internet-native taste (with receipts). You ensure our social vision survives the realities of budget and tight turnaround times, while actively contributing to the creative brainstorms. If you work in Asana but live on TikTok and Instagram, this is your role.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the social intake process from internal stakeholders. Lead social projects from brief to delivery, ensuring internal clients are heard, feedback loops are tight, and assets drop on time.
  • Maintain an immaculate, transparent Asana ecosystem. Keep internal clients in Marketing and beyond informed on what's happening in social through proactive internal communication.
  •  Work closely with internal partners such as our in-house designers and videographer to manage their bandwidth, deliver crystal-clear briefs, and create excellent work.
  • Own the external production pipeline. Source, negotiate with, and manage content creators and influencers. Handle logistics for external shoots, including talent sourcing and location scouting.
  • Bring your eye for trends and internet culture to the table. You won't just manage the calendar; you will actively participate in creative concepting and ensure our output maintains an aesthetic that's unmistakably Navan.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in social media production, agency project management, or creative operations-specifically with a heavy focus on digital/social-first content.
  •  A deep native affinity for social media (TikTok, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube) and an eye for what looks premium, engaging, and on-brand for Navan.
  • A bias for action. You can handle tight social turnarounds, unstick projects with a smile, and manage multiple moving parts without losing your cool.
  • Proven experience managing both internal creative feedback loops and external vendor/creator relationships (contracts, usage rights, and budgets).
  • Advanced proficiency in Asana is a must, alongside Slack and Google Workspace. Being handy with CapCut is a major plus.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with creator/influencer management platforms.
  • A background in light video editing or smartphone content capture.
  • Direct experience in travel, hospitality or fintech spaces.
