Job description

The Marketing Specialist - Social Media and Events is a hands-on marketing role responsible for driving brand awareness, audience engagement, and event execution. They own two critical components of the marketing function: social media management and domestic event planning. They create compelling content, manage social channels, coordinate trade shows and industry events, and help ensure a consistent and engaging brand presence across digital and in-person touchpoints. Working closely with marketing, sales, leadership, and external partners, they business growth through strategic communication and memorable customer experiences.ย 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute social media strategies that support brand awareness, engagement, lead generation, and overall marketing objectives.
  • Create engaging content including written copy, graphics in partnership with the creative team, short-form video, and other multimedia assets tailored to platform-specific audiences.
  • Build, maintain, and manage the social media content calendar, including content planning, scheduling, publishing, and campaign coordination.
  • Monitor platform performance, analyze engagement metrics, and provide regular reporting and recommendations to improve results.
  • Manage social media community engagement by responding to comments, messages, and interactions in a timely and brand-consistent manner.
  • Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, algorithm changes, and emerging best practices, bringing innovative ideas to enhance performance.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute domestic trade shows, conferences, vendor events, and sponsorship activations from concept through post-event evaluation.
  • Manage event logistics including booth design coordination, vendor relationships, shipping, setup, dismantle activities, and on-site execution.
  • Source, order, and manage promotional merchandise, branded collateral, giveaways, and event materials.
  • Coordinate pre-event and post-event marketing campaigns to maximize attendance, engagement, lead generation, and follow-up activity.
  • Support virtual and hybrid events through planning, promotion, content coordination, and execution.
  • Track event performance, measure return on investment, and partner with sales teams to ensure effective lead capture, follow-up, and reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, leadership, external vendors, and marketing team members to strengthen brand visibility and support business initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned to meet evolving business needs.

Qualifications

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related field from an accredited college or university required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Certification/Licensure: No certification required; industry certifications in social media marketing, digital marketing, event management, or related disciplines are a plus.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in social media management, event marketing, corporate events, or a similar marketing role combining both disciplines.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience planning, coordinating, and executing trade shows, conferences, sponsorship events, and other business-focused events.
  • Strong content creation skills across written, visual, and video formats with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences and platforms.
  • Experience utilizing social media platforms, scheduling tools, analytics platforms, and campaign reporting tools to drive engagement and performance.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, vendors, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to maintaining brand consistency and professionalism across all channels.
  • Experience with marketing automation, CRM, and campaign management tools such as Salesforce, Marketo, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Experience within logistics, transportation, freight, supply chain, or other B2B industries is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically as needed to support events, trade shows, conferences, and company initiatives.
  • Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality in handling and protecting sensitive information.
  • Technical: Proficient with common office technologies, including Windows PCs, Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and web conferencing (Teams, Zoom, Webex, etc.)
  • Environment: Comfort commuting to/from and working in a 100% on-site setting (listed in this posting), with travel for related meetings/events.
