SUMMARY
Real Salt Lake is seeking a creative, passionate, and soccer-savvy Social Media Coordinator to help tell the Club's story and deepen fan engagement across all digital platforms. This role is responsible for planning, creating, publishing, and optimizing engaging social content that showcases the Club, its players, supporters, partners, and community.
Working closely with Marketing, Communications, Creative, Corporate Partnerships, and Soccer Operations, the Social Media Coordinator will help execute the Club's social media strategy while producing compelling real-time content from matches, training sessions, community events, and other Club initiatives. This position plays a key role in growing the Club's digital audience, strengthening brand affinity, and delivering measurable value to fans and commercial partners.
This position is primarily based at the Larry H. Miller Tower and requires regular attendance at matches, training sessions, community events, and other Club functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Execute the Club's social media strategy across all digital platforms, creating engaging content that grows audience, fan engagement, and brand awareness.

  • Plan, manage, and maintain the Club's social content calendar while balancing scheduled campaigns with real-time opportunities.

  • Capture, edit, and publish photo, video, and written content from matches, training sessions, community events, and Club initiatives, with an emphasis on platform-native short-form video.

  • Provide comprehensive live matchday coverage, telling compelling stories before, during, and after each match.

  • Monitor social media trends, fan conversations, and platform updates to identify opportunities for timely, creative, and engaging content.

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, Creative, Soccer Operations, and Corporate Partnerships to execute integrated campaigns and fulfill sponsored digital assets.

  • Build and engage the Club's online community by monitoring social channels, interacting with supporters, and maintaining the Club's voice and brand standards.

  • Analyze social media performance and audience insights to optimize content strategy, measure campaign success, and recommend continuous improvements.

  • Train, mentor, and oversee social media interns while ensuring high-quality execution of day-to-day responsibilities.

  • Support additional digital marketing, content creation, and Club initiatives as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Sports Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 1-3 years of professional social media experience (internships and freelance experience considered).

  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging, platform-native content across multiple social media channels.

  • Strong understanding of social media algorithms, trends, audience engagement, and platform best practices.

  • Experience producing mobile-first short-form video content.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere Pro and Photoshop.

  • Experience using CapCut or similar mobile editing applications.

  • Strong writing and copyediting skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Experience interpreting social media analytics and using performance data to improve content strategy.

  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, live-event environment.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required throughout the MLS season.

  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in professional sports, collegiate athletics, entertainment, or live events.

  • Working knowledge of MLS, MLS NEXT Pro, MLS NEXT, and the North American soccer landscape.

  • Experience using Sprout Social, Emplifi, Later, Hootsuite, or similar social media management platforms.

  • Experience using Adobe Lightroom and After Effects.

  • Familiarity with sports photography and mobile content production.

  • Experience collaborating with athletes, coaches, or public-facing talent.

  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and occasional climbing while capturing content at matches, training sessions, and Club events. The employee must be able to regularly lift and carry camera equipment and other production materials weighing up to 25 pounds. The role requires working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow. Evening, weekend, holiday, and matchday work is required, as well as occasional travel to Club events and away matches.
