Job description

Summary
Mapfre is seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious college student to join our Financial Systems Data Integrity team for a 10-week summer internship from June 7th to August 13, 2027 in Webster, Massachusetts. This opportunity provides hands-on experience supporting a strategic process modernization initiative that will improve the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of financial and operational reporting processes.
The intern will play an active role in a project to migrate an existing Microsoft Access-based business process to a modern database platform. Working alongside business and financial professionals, the intern will analyze current workflows, assist with data migration and validation activities, support database development efforts, and contribute to process improvement initiatives. This role offers exposure to financial systems, data management, business analysis, and emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI).
What You'll Do
  • Assist in the analysis and documentation of existing business processes and workflows currently supported through Microsoft Access databases.
  • Support the migration of data and reporting processes to a more streamlined and scalable database environment.
  • Develop and execute data validation procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity throughout the migration process.
  • Create and optimize SQL queries to support data analysis, reporting, and testing activities.
  • Work with Snowflake or other database technologies to support data transformation and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with finance stakeholders to identify opportunities for process automation and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Research and evaluate AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies that may enhance productivity, data analysis, and process effectiveness.
  • Assist in documenting business requirements, technical specifications, and process workflows.
  • Prepare analytical summaries and present project findings, recommendations, and progress updates to team members and leadership.
  • Participate in networking, training, and professional development activities offered through the MAPFRE Summer Internship Program.

What we are looking for
Education
  • Current enrollment in Bachelor's degree program (Rising Junior or Senior) OR current enrollmentin a Master's degree program with the following areas of focus: Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information systems or related field.

Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Fundamental understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.
  • Experience with SQL for querying, analyzing, and validating data.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Pay Transparency: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
