Job description

Purpose of the position
(FT or PT Winter Seasonal Position) The Terrain Park Groomer is responsible for daily grooming and maintenance of freestyle terrain with attention to detail and a quality product. Operate and assist in light maintenance of all department vehicles and equipment.
Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
  • Advanced knowledge and/or proficient ability in operation of grooming equipment and implements
  • Accountable for providing the highest quality of grooming possible within designated terrain parks
  • Provide clear and positive communication and assistance with the Vehicle Maintenance Department for in-field troubleshooting, light repair and general maintenance of grooming equipment
  • Possess a strong knowledge of Snowbowl's trail system
  • Provide input and support for new training ideas and updated grooming practices within the department.
  • Perform assigned duties as required to support other mountain departments.
  • Strong knowledge of snowmaking operations
  • Strong knowledge of snow management and placement practices
  • Able to work rotating shifts at night in adverse weather conditions.
  • Apply snow science theories.
  • Accountable for safety and machine cleanliness
  • Able to demonstrate snow processing skills
  • Maintain freestyle terrain features suited to Snowbowl's clientele
  • Proper equipment inspection
  • Daily logs
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Understand Employee Handbook, and support company policies

Competencies Required:
  • Must be in good physical shape.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work night shift
  • Must be able to work outside in adverse weather conditions on uneven and slick terrain.
  • Ability to see at night
  • Must have a valid US Driver's license.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Works well with others as team
  • Good communication skills
  • 3+ years prior grooming experience

Preferred Experience:
  • Snowmaking
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient ski/snowboard ability

Availability: Must be able to commit to a semi flexible work schedule. Flexibility regarding covering shifts is preferred.
