Job description

Sun Valley Resort is looking for highly motivated individuals to assist with the resortโ€™s zero-waste events. Waste Diversion Ambassadors will be attendants for the waste diversion stations at resort events. Waste Diversion Ambassadors will educate event patrons while helping sort waste properly to maximize landfill diversion.ย 

Duties & Responsibilities:ย ย 

  • Set up and take down waste diversion stations
  • Installation and removal of all educational signage
  • Educate event attendees on what goes where (compost/ recycling/ landfill)
  • Operate the waste diversion stations while sorting waste
  • Remove and properly sort visible contamination from bins
  • Transport recyclables and compostables via hand cart, electric cart or vehicle to back-of-house recycling centers

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of, interest in, or experience with environmental sustainability and waste reduction strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to follow safety requirements and implement safety procedures
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to engage with people through verbal communication
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and evenings
  • Can work standard shifts, which are between 4 and 8 hours
  • Can work in the outdoors and various weather elements (rain, sun, heat, cold, snow, etc.)
  • Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching
  • Can safely lift and/or move up to 50 poundsย
