Description

The Snooper Operator is responsible for driving equipment to the job site, operate heavy under-bridge equipment allowing the bridge team to inspect, repair and/or perform other related tasks.

Essential Functions

  • Operate all heavy equipment in accordance with company expectations.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and worksite rules.
  • Perform daily inspections on assigned equipment and/or tools to uphold safe working conditions and notify immediate supervisor or manager of any damages and/or signs of tampering.
  • Complies with company safety standards defined in the Safety Manual and follows appropriate protocol for reporting incidents timely to supervisor on duty or Safety Director.
  • Communicates regularly and respectfully with team members to ensure that work specifications are being followed and that any problems with traffic, safety and/or site conditions are reported promptly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Possess a working knowledge and practical experience with both Paxton-Mitchell and Aspen Aerial Under-bridge Inspection Units
  • Possess a deep analytical understanding and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competent computer skills including proficient use of Word, Excel, Google Docs.
  • A keen eye to details and good decision-making skills.
  • General understanding of use of hand and power tools.
  • Heavy equipment endorsements desired.
  • Work independently under little supervision or as valued member of team.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with peers and supervisors. Possess a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, tools, materials, and supplies used in office, commercial, or heavy/highway construction work.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, and a high level of integrity.
  • Be self-motivated, and able to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow directions and meet deadlines.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of working experience
  • 3+ years of construction related experience
  • Clean driver’s record required

Work Context

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical equipment and in outside conditions that may include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively climb, jump, sprint or throw an object.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects in excess of 50 lbs., walk, sit or stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Must be able to have flexibility to go and stay out of town for up to a week at a time upon request.
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
  • Ability to tolerate a generally loud noise level.
  • Anticipate exposure to normal work hazards associated with construction environment.
  • Wearing a respirator and passing a fit test may be required.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Required to regularly talk, hear, and communicate with others.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
