They are typically contracted per term and do not have full-time faculty benefits. Adjuncts bring industry experience to their teaching and play a crucial role in student learning.

What are the typical working hours and workload expectations for an SNHU Adjunct?

SNHU Adjuncts usually work on a part-time basis and are assigned to one or more courses per term, with flexible hours primarily determined by course schedules and student engagement needs. Most teaching responsibilities—including responding to student inquiries, grading assignments, and facilitating discussions—are conducted online, allowing for significant autonomy in scheduling. However, instructors are expected to be responsive to students and adhere to university deadlines for grading and participation. The average weekly commitment varies depending on the number of courses taught and student enrollment but generally ranges from 10 to 20 hours per course per week. This role is ideal for those seeking a flexible academic position while impacting students in an innovative remote learning environment.
