Job description

YOUR MISSION (The Job Description)

The Banquet Steward position reports to the Executive Steward and is responsible for performing basic cleaning and dishwashing responsibilities with others or individually. All duties are to be performed in accordance with SNHD, Banquets, and Virgin Hotels policies, practices, and procedures
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)
  • Ensure that items are properly cleaned and stored
  • Strong knowledge and consistent use of SNHD regulations and standards
  • Communicate effectively with "Back of the House" staff
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively in a team
  • Consistently maintains clean and safe work area for self and other team members
  • Strong communication skills to all team members
  • Find solutions before problems arise
  • Anticipate needs and over deliver wherever possible
  • Candidates must think on their feet and use their initiative to solve problems and deliver solutions
  • Comply with all safety and health department procedures keeping kitchens clean, organized and sanitary
  • Organizing, plates and glass wear
  • Able to change direction and work on multiple project aspects at once as needed
  • Mop stockrooms and report any hazardous situations to the kitchen or maintenance manager
  • Collect soiled dishes from dining areas and transport them to the kitchen
  • Work environment is noisy, must constantly receive and communicate information
  • Execute proper health and safety protocols while operating equipment, handling food, storing food, maintaining temperature & time control logs, and sanitizing as dictated by the SNHD
  • Report health and safety incidents and concerns directly to leadership in an accurate and timely manner
  • Contribute to successful SNHD health inspections

MUST HAVE'S
  • Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
  • High school or equivalent education required
  • Food Service Handler Card that is currently valid for a minimum of at least 6 months
  • Preferred: 1-2 years' experience in a full-service restaurant or lounge
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE'S
  • Must enjoy being around and working with people
  • Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as all state and federal laws
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
  • Adhere to hotel policies including but not limited to attendance, safety, and behavior
THE WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Lift and carry 50 lbs, carry and balance plates, carry kegs, wine and beer cases as necessary
  • Stand for periods of 8-10 hours
  • Communicate clearly in verbal and written English
  • Bend, squat and stretch in areas of limited space to perform cleaning, organization, and other duties
  • Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, smoke, and sound. Incumbents are at times subject to hazards such as chemicals; proper safety precautions will be taken.
