Job description

YOUR MISSION (The Job Description)
The Cook will play an important role in preparing and presenting all food items as called for by the menu, and in assisting the Chef in the efficient operations of the kitchen. Cook will be responsible for assisting all stations and respective lines as necessary.
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)
  • Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in recipes
  • Prepare cooking ingredients
  • Undertake basic cooking duties
  • Prepare simple dishes
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
  • Exercise professionalism and respect when communicating
  • Maintain your work schedule, daily time-punches, and sign-ins to ensure accuracy of timecards
  • Adhere to all house policies and standards
  • Perform proper changeover, opening, and closing duties
  • Maintain accountability to kitchen standards, set prep recipes, and performance procedures
  • Follow all prep recipes and procedures and successfully perform these duties as assigned and/or reassigned by leadership
  • Participate in seamless operation between BOH + FOH staff members, ensuring proper service to our guests
  • Perform to high standards of excellence, execution, and cleanliness
  • Always keep your active SNHD Food Handler's card with you while on property.
  • Execute proper health and safety protocols while operating equipment, handling food, storing food, maintaining temperature & time control logs, and sanitizing as dictated by the SNHD
  • Report health and safety incidents and concerns directly to leadership in an accurate and timely manner
  • Contribute to successful SNHD health inspections
  • Actively participate in all scheduled required training sessions

WHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)
  • Ability to move quickly and efficiently through the Kitchen
  • Work environment is noisy, must constantly receive and communicate information
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
  • Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils

  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure

MUST HAVE'S
  • Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written English
  • Use all tools associated with the position including but not limited to knives, slicers and choppers
  • Review and comprehend recipes and other necessary documentation
  • Inspect quality of all food items
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees
  • Move effectively and efficiently throughout work areas
  • Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active SNHD Food Handlers card with a minimum of six months before expiration
  • Previous experience as a prep cook or equivalent
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule

  • Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as all state and federal laws
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance

THE WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Lift, pull, push and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand for periods of 8-10 hours
  • Communicate clearly in verbal and written English
  • Bend, squat and stretch in areas of limited space to perform cleaning, organization, and other duties
  • Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, smoke, and sound. Incumbents are at times subject to hazards such as chemicals; proper safety precautions will be taken
