Description
Title: Registered Dietitian

Reports to: Senior Director of Nutrition Education, Partnerships, and Warehouse Operations
Location: 370 McClellan Highway, East Boston
Classification: Full time
YMCA of Greater Boston Registered Dietitian

The YMCA is a lead partner for the Greater Boston Food Bank and operates a warehouse Grocery Bag Distribution Program that packages and delivers 4,500+ grocery bags weekly to more than 45 partners through the city of Boston. A new Mobile Market will be operational in 2023 and will coordinate services in the city of Boston. The goal is to serve communities daily with food choice and individual selection. The YMCA of Greater Boston is also a partner to the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) and delivers SNAP-Education/ Nutritional Education to all distribution Centers in the city of Boston, partners with the Massachusetts Alliance of Ys and works directly with JRI and independent consultant to measure the impact of all Distribution Center Operations and Activities. Annually pantry meals will deliver more than 3 million meals.
 

The Registered Dietitian role is responsible for developing, leading and implementing nutrition-based initiatives of the DTA SNAP-Education/Nutritional Education program. The Registered Dietitian will be responsible for designing educational materials and delivering them at the Grocery Bag Distribution Program sites, Early Education Centers, Homeless Shelter, and other partners. The Registered Dietitian will work closely with partner sites, youth, and families. Strong communication and coordination skills with partners and community members are integral in this role. his position reports to the Director of Nutrition Education, Partnerships, and Warehouse Operations.
Qualifications:

• Must be a Registered Dietitian with an active license
• Minimum of two years of related work experience
• Bilingual in Spanish/Creole preferred
• Ability to build strong relationships and work effectively with a wide variety of people.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Experience and comfort with public speaking and presentations.
• Interest and willingness to collaborate with exercise professionals to teach participants about the connections between nutrition and exercise.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for most of the workday.
• Must be motivated, energetic, punctual, responsible, and exhibit a positive attitude to be an excellent role model for staff members and partners.
• Considerable skill to build external partnerships.
• Demonstrated respect for the teaching, learning, and evaluation process.
• Appreciation of equity, diversity, inclusion, and promotion of multi-cultural awareness.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
• Attentive to detail and able to work independently.
• Must be highly motivated and possess a positive attitude towards the YMCA, character development and mission.

Key Responsibilities
Administration & Management:

• Design and implement SNAP-ED direct education services garnered towards SNAP-Ed eligible youth in the Greater Boston Area, other YMCA programs, and partners.
• Create and administer SNAP Education curriculum for SNAP-Ed eligible adults and families receiving food assistance from YMCA grocery distribution. Work alongside Director of Nutrition Education, Partnerships, and Warehouse Operations to deliver and distribute educational materials to partners.
• Coordinate with the Pantry Operations Manager to order food that aligns with SNAP-Ed curriculum.
• Implement education curriculum and programming at grocery sites, Mobile Market Food Truck locations, and expand programming throughout the Greater Boston area.
• Coordinate with partners to host educational trainings for adults and families.
• Develop strategy to advance food systems and policy work for YMCA internal and external network throughout the Commonwealth.
• Serve as the primary nutrition related resource for the organization, supporting association and branch staff and programs.
• Build relationships and promote nutrition services to internal and external stake holders to drive engagement, participation and referrals.
• Supervise part time Registered Dietitians
• Other duties as needed and assigned
