Part-Time Public Health NutritionistLocation: Bronx, NY

New York Common Pantry is one of the cityโ€™s largest hunger relief organizations, providing food assistance, case management services, senior food provision, nutrition education, and hygiene services. We are a dynamic, mission-driven organization experiencing rapid growth and expansion.

NYCP is a poverty-fighting organization that reduces hunger and promotes dignity, health, and self-sufficiency by using a holistic approach. Last year, we assisted over 764,000 visitors, served over 11.7 million meals, and accessed $10.7 million in public benefits resources for our guests. Through an array of programs that we offer, we look to establish long-term stability for those we serve.

NYCP is seeking qualified Part-Time Public Health Nutritionists to join our growing Live Healthy! team. The Part-Time Public Health Nutritionist is responsible for planning activities, events, and workshops, and producing outputs that will lead to healthier communities, focusing on serving the SNAP population. The support is needed for Direct Nutrition Education, Farmerโ€™s Market Tours, Farmshare, Food MD, Recipe Club, and many other community nutrition experiences and opportunities. As a part of the SNAP-Ed III Program, LIVE HEALTHY! offers virtual and in-person interactive nutrition education workshops to children, seniors, and adults throughout New York City, aimed at improving the overall quality of life.

The Part-Time Public Health Nutritionist will report to the Nutrition Program Manager at the 788 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY,10455 location. This is a non-exempt, part-time position, up to 28 hours per week including some Saturdays. Extensive travel on public transit is required for program activities (a monthly MetroCard is covered by the grant).

Please note that this is a grant-funded position with funding anticipated up to September 30th, 2026. Continuation of this position is dependent on contract renewal.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement SNAP-Ed III Nutrition Education and PSE Activities throughout Upper Manhattan and the Bronx area.

  • Lead all aspects of preparation, implementation, and take-down for all assigned SNAP-Ed III activities.

  • Initiate and engage in communication with community partners about class scheduling and organization.

  • Ensure that there is adequate supply and materials for each activity.

  • Confirm that all attendance records and reporting methods are completed accurately.

  • Assist with the organization and implementation of SNAP-Ed III activities within each project.

  • Assist with data collection, organization, and data entry and ensure proper data collection techniques are used in acquiring evaluation data and ensure the integrity and validity of the data are secure.

  • Participate in required meetings, including SNAP-Ed required meetings and weekly team meetings.

  • Plan and organize work responsibilities according to priorities developed with the immediate supervisor.

  • Work both independently and collectively to effectively collaborate with LIVE HEALTHY! team members, and our community.

  • Communicate frequently and professionally with all team players and have a solution-oriented approach to program planning.

  • Collaborate on other program-related or agency-related activities as assigned by the Director of Nutrition.

  • Work flexible hours, which may include weekends, as scheduled.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • An Associate degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Community or Behavioral Health, Health Education, Public Health, or Nursing is required.

  • Certification or licensure preferred but not required: RD (Registered Dietitian), RDN (Registered Dietitian Nutritionist), CCN (Certified Clinical Nutritionist), CNS (Certified Nutrition Specialist).

  • Commitment to helping the communities in need and NYCPโ€™s work and mission.

  • Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills.

  • Professional communication skills and eager to give, and receive feedback in a respectful and constructive manner.

  • Work independently and effectively collaborate with LH! team members and the community.

  • Ability to carry supplies and equipment to assigned sites/events.

  • Ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and strong health literacy skills.

  • Problem-solve and drive projects from planning to completion with minimal supervision.

  • Experience in community outreach and project management is preferred.

  • Full professional proficiency level in English/Spanish or English/Mandarin is preferred.

  • Multi-task and work in a highly trafficked area.

  • Travel between multiple job locations.
