Job description

SMT Process Engineer

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Process Engineer in our Tempe, Arizona manufacturing facility, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining circuit board assembly processes. The ideal candidate is a catalyst for change and improvements and thrives in a career being able to work with, coach, and train multi-disciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
  • Creation & support of Surface Mount Technology Programming to ensure accuracy of SMT machinery
  • Complete documentation of production processes (procedures, work instructions, mapping) to create flow and understanding
  • Drive product & process quality through root cause analysis and the immediate implementation of corrective actions
  • Understand & apply IPC Standards to all areas of production
  • Facilitate and support project implementation through cross functional teams
  • Daily technical support for the production team and ensure machine tools are properly functioning (repair as needed)
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Design wave pallets, reflow profiles, wave/SMT/AOI programs and manufacturing improvements
  • Foster a strong health and safety environment - ensures all safety guidelines are being followed and takes action to improve conditions
  • Ensure departmental processes are compliant with quality management system (QMS)
  • Provide training and mentoring for department employees on how to solve technical problems
  • Advise on all technology purchases specific to manufacturing process

Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in technical discipline and 3 + years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Post-secondary education in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering is considered an asset
  • Experience in installing, operating, and maintaining electrical and electronic machines and equipment according to specifications
  • Experience in all aspects of PCBA manufacturing
  • Previous process experience in an electronics environment with SMT, PTH and mechanical assembly
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience
  • Available for periodic overtime
