Job description

Position: SMT Machine Operator (Surface Mount Technology)

Job Type: Temp to hire

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 depending on experience

Hours: 1st shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm, 2nd shift: 4:00on 0 12:30am (training on 1st shift for a couple weeks)

Location: South Elgin, IL

Requirements: Resume, Interview, BG, DT, E-Verify

Position Summary:
The SMT Set-Up Operator is responsible for preparing and staging materials and equipment for SMT production, ensuring smooth and efficient machine operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and tear down component feeders for SMT pick-and-place machines
  • Stage feeders and materials for upcoming jobs
  • Assist operators with machine changeovers
  • Pull parts from stockroom and overflow locations based on pick lists

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of SMT equipment experience preferred
  • Knowledge of electronic component identification
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and data entry)
  • Familiarity with IPC SMT placement and soldering standards
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings
