What is a smoke shop?

A smoke shop job typically involves working in a retail store that sells tobacco products, smoking accessories, and sometimes vape products or CBD items. What are the primary responsibilities of a smoke shop employee on a typical shift?

On a typical shift, smoke shop employees are responsible for assisting customers with product selection, processing sales through the POS system, and verifying customer age in compliance with local laws. Additional tasks often include restocking shelves, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and providing information about different tobacco or vape products. Team members also help track inventory and report any discrepancies to management. The role involves a mix of customer service, regulatory compliance, and store upkeep, making it essential to be reliable, attentive, and knowledgeable.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the smoke shop position, and why are they important?

To succeed working in a smoke shop, you should have strong customer service abilities, basic math skills for handling transactions, and knowledge of tobacco and vaping products, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. These skills are vital for providing excellent service, maintaining store operations, and ensuring the shop runs smoothly within legal guidelines.
