Job description

Purpose
The purpose of the Assembler position is to accurately perform tasks according to work instructions that are related to the assembly of standard SMC products and simple specials.
Essential Job Responsibilities
The assembler is responsible for following standardized work procedures, and work sequences, and will complete the following tasks for their role:
  • Verify: read and follow SMC blueprints and assembly instructions to determine that the finished product part number on the order matches the assembly parts.
  • Assemble: use power tools or machines to assemble the final SMC product. This process will be repeated for each of the day's assignments.
  • Test and Inspect: the final product will be tested using a test machine, labeled, and inspected to ensure that it is free of any leaks and is assembled as specified on the work order.

- Understand and follow all company policies and safety procedures.
- All other duties as assigned daily by your supervisor.
- Additional training will be provided to new hires on SMC ERP systems, standards, and practices.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • The physical demands of this position require the employee to stand, walk, and use their hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with their hands and arms. The role will also necessitate the employee to lift heavy components as needed; SMC will provide an overhead hoist to assist with this task.
  • While the production facility is temperature controlled, the work environment may expose employees to noise, heat, cold, dust, lubricants, and/or solvents.

Minimum Requirements
  • No prior experience is needed, previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Available to work overtime on weekdays/weekends as needed (multiple daytime and part-time schedules are available).
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Work in a team environment for increased productivity and quality.
  • Communicate effectively.
