Farm Lines Account Manager

Position Summary:

The Farm Lines Account Manager is responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of small farm insurance accounts. This role delivers exceptional client service while ensuring accounts are properly maintained, renewed, and protected through comprehensive insurance solutions. The Account Manager plays a key role in achieving agency retention and growth objectives by building strong client relationships, identifying cross-selling and account rounding opportunities, coordinating policy marketing and placement, and providing proactive risk management guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and service a portfolio of small farm insurance accounts, including related personal and commercial lines policies, in accordance with agency procedures and service standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients by responding promptly and professionally to inquiries via phone, email, mail, and in-person visits.
  • Analyze client operations, insurance programs, and risk exposures to identify coverage gaps and recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
  • Prepare insurance proposals, summaries, schedules, and other account documentation to support new and renewal business.
  • Process policy transactions including new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, certificates of insurance, evidence of coverage, invoices, and other service requests accurately and timely.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client records within the agency management system by documenting all communications, activities, policy changes, and supporting documentation in accordance with agency standards.
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers and vendors to ensure policy transactions and service requests are processed accurately and within established timelines.
  • Conduct renewal reviews and evaluate client exposures to ensure appropriate coverage while marketing renewal business with carriers as needed to secure competitive coverage and pricing.
  • Assist clients with billing inquiries by researching issues, coordinating with carriers, and facilitating timely resolution.
  • Support clients throughout the claims process by reporting first notice of loss, monitoring claim activity, coordinating with carriers, and providing ongoing communication until resolution.
  • Monitor expiration reports, binders, and accounts receivable to ensure timely follow-up and compliance with agency guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities to retain business by addressing cancellation requests, strengthening client relationships, and providing proactive service.
  • Contribute to agency growth by identifying account rounding opportunities, cross-selling additional insurance products and services, and requesting referrals from existing clients.
  • Maintain current knowledge of insurance products, carrier underwriting guidelines, industry trends, and regulatory requirements through continuing education and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred
  • Current Indiana Property and Casualty License required
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial lines or personal lines account management experience required; farm insurance experience strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of brokerage operations including procedures and applicable insurance laws/codesโ€ฏ
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive, Teams, etc.)
  • Experience with agency management systems, preferably Applied Epic or AMS360
  • Familiarity with carrier rating platforms and proprietary carrier systems
  • Excellent time management, organizational and verbal and writtenโ€ฏcommunication skills
  • High degree of self-motivation and self-direction
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client, financial, and employee information
  • Must be able to work with occasional instruction and supervision
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law

Hours: Monday โ€“ Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Work Options: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule for candidates who reside within a commutable distance of a McGowan office. Candidates who reside elsewhere in Indiana may be considered for a fully remote work arrangement.
