Maintenance Technician - Chemical Manufacturing
Location: McCook, IL
Shift: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Salary: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour

Express Employment Professionals in Brookfield partnered with a leading chemical wholesale company specializing in high-quality industrial products. We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team and ensure the smooth operation of our production equipment, pneumatic systems, and motors.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on motors, pneumatic systems, pumps, industrial boilers and production machinery such as mixers .
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues using measuring and testing instruments.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools to repair and replace defective components.
  • Conduct pipe fitting, small motor repair, basic wiring, and general mechanical maintenance.
  • Operate and maintain grinders, cutting tools, and brazing equipment.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and adhere to hot work permitting regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards, chemical handling protocols, and hazardous materials storage.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • 4+ years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in a chemical, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance, motors, pumps, conveyors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, grinding, cutting, and brazing techniques.
  • Basic understanding of wiring, pipe fitting, and small engine repairs.
  • Experience with hot work permitting, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and hazardous materials handling.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial or chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various environmental conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical certification in mechanical maintenance, industrial maintenance, or related field.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Welding experience is a plus.
