The Sanitation Manager The Sanitation Manager directs and manages and continuously improves all sanitation activities of the bakery, kitchen, restaurant, and facility. They are responsible for owning all things food safety and making sure our written policies reflect our practices on the floor.
Role & Responsibilities
โ€ข Keep all equipment and facilities available for use with maximum uptime.
โ€ข Work closely with production team to make sure their needs and the needs of customers are met.
โ€ข Manage food safety requirements as they pertain to sanitation and maintain a safe working environment.
โ€ข Manage and enforce all safety programs and related training, including chemical handling.
โ€ข Plans and manages a master sanitation schedule in accordance with governmental, Company, and customer standards utilizing industry best-practices to include all internal and external systems and areas.
โ€ข Schedule, assign, continuously improve, and follow up on all sanitation tasks.
โ€ข Utilize CMMS (Limble) software for universal asset management.
โ€ข Knowledge in SQF, PCQI, GFSI, BRC, OSHA, FDA and USDA,
โ€ข Work with maintenance and operations to make sure scheduled shutdowns are effective for all departments.
โ€ข Organize and maintain inventories of chemicals, tools, and supplies.
โ€ข Manage all sanitation purchasing and contractors.
โ€ข Formulates chemical concentrations such as general cleaner and sanitizers.
โ€ข Plans and manages insect/pest control program with support from outside agencies.
โ€ข Manages facility waste, edible waste, oil waste, and recycling programs.
โ€ข Develops and maintains applicable records (EPA, etc.).
โ€ข Troubleshoot equipment issues.
โ€ข Responsible for hiring and training sanitation technicians on multiple shifts.
โ€ข Work with sanitation personnel individually to help them learn, improve, and grow in their careers.
โ€ข Facilitate training programs for all sanitation employees.
โ€ข Participation in staff meetings, operations shift meetings, as well as safety and food safety meetings and inspections may be required.
โ€ข Must be willing and able to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
โ€ข Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements & Physical Demands
โ€ข Minimum of six years' experience in sanitation and/or maintenance and in leadership roles. Food industry experience is preferred: Bakery, kitchen, and facility management.
โ€ข Must possess strong people-focused leadership qualities, with previous successful leadership and management experience.
โ€ข Eager to learn and continuously improve.
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent. College degree, college-level coursework, technical and continuing education encouraged.
โ€ข Maintain Food Service Manager Certification through Baltimore city and other licenses as required by the State, County, City or industry.
โ€ข Proficiency in office software, CMMS (Limble).
โ€ข Strong mechanical skills, aptitude, and troubleshooting ability.
โ€ข Demonstrated knowledge in pest control and other food manufacturing facility requirements.
Ability to work on your feet for hours at a time, and in hot environments. Physically capable of moving to all areas of the facility. Must be capable of reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing and pulling as required in a production operation. Able to climb ladders, crawl under equipment and work in tight spaces
