Why this job matters

The Slot Technician I plays an essential role in delivering a seamless and enjoyable gaming experience for our guests. This position is responsible for ensuring that all slot and VLT machines are operational, compliant, safe, and player-ready at all times. By performing routine maintenance, responding promptly to service needs, and supporting promotions and floor operations, the Slot Technician I helps create a welcoming, reliable, and entertaining environment that keeps our guests engaged and coming back.

What you bring to the table
  • Make sure the space stays safe, clean, and friendly for both guests and the rest of the team; speak up and report any safety concerns to the Safety Committee.
  • Maintain slot and VLT equipment in proper working order by performing routine maintenance, preventative servicing, component replacement, and basic repairs to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and floor needs, diagnosing common equipment issues, clearing errors, replacing consumables (tickets, paper, parts), and returning machines to service quickly to minimize downtime and guest disruption.
  • Access and inspect the interior of gaming machines to observe functionality, identify error codes, clear paper jams, reset machines, and verify that games are operating accurately and securely.
  • Perform jackpot verification in accordance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and gaming standards to ensure accurate payouts and compliance.
  • Support Title 31 and other regulatory compliance requirements by following all policies, procedures, documentation, and reporting standards related to gaming operations and financial transactions.
  • Monitor routine floor operations, proactively identifying potential issues, completing service orders, and communicating with leadership and team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current promotions, events, and floor activities in order to support Slot Ambassadors and guest-facing teams with accurate information when needed.
  • Serve as a technical support partner to Slot Ambassadors and other departments, assisting with machine questions, player issues, equipment moves, and operational support as requested.
  • Assist with slot equipment relocations, installs, removals, and floor changes to support marketing initiatives, special events, and operational adjustments.
  • Perform routine drop detail functions as scheduled, following proper handling, documentation, and security procedures.
  • Promote general casino activities, special events, and non-gaming amenities by maintaining awareness of offerings and supporting a positive, helpful environment on the casino floor.
  • Uphold a professional, courteous, and service-oriented presence at all times, recognizing that even technical roles contribute directly to the guest experience.
  • Follow all safety, security, internal control, and regulatory guidelines to protect the integrity of gaming operations, guests, and team members.
  • Jump in where needed to support the team and keep things running smoothly. (Other duties as assigned)
Must-haves, nice-to-haves, and maybe some bonus points
  • Friendly and approachable attitude that helps guests (and the team) feel welcome and cared for every day.
  • HS Diploma or GED required. Additional electronics training a plus.
  • This position requires the ability to safely work with hand operated and electric tools.
  • Six (6) month repair or electronic maintenance skills are required, with emphasis on multi-tasking, personal organization and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork, self-motivation and maintenance of confidentiality are expected on a daily basis.
  • The Slot Tech I is expected to maintain an orderly work environment and comply with all required policies and procedures.
  • Must have the ability to complete the Slot Technician Training Checklist within 90 days of employment
  • Comfortable communicating clearly and positively with both guests and teammates.
Physical stuff to know

We've included the typical physical parts of the job here. If you need an accommodation to do the work, just let us know-we're here to support you. You'll need to be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings when we are busy. During your shift, you'll stand for extended periods, and frequently walk, and use your hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Occasionally sit. This position requires the ability to perform a 150 pound two-man lift with intermediate frequency. It is important to stay calm and make good decisions under pressure, especially when dealing with stressful situations or upset people. Just a heads-up-the casino environment may expose you to secondhand smoke. This is a quick summary of the main duties and requirements-it might not cover everything you could be asked to do.

Ko-Kwel Casino Resort is owned by the Coquille Indian Tribe. Team members are eligible for a comprehensive health care benefit, generous time off policy, 401-K retirement with 4% company match and other benefits.
