Department: Slot Operations

Reports To: Director of Slot Operations / General Manager

Location: Louisiana Downs Casino & Racetrack

Employment Status: Full-Time

Classification: Exempt

Schedule: Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events

Position Summary

The Slot Technician Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, performance, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the casinoโ€™s slot machine and gaming equipment. This position provides leadership and direction to Slot Technicians while ensuring gaming devices remain operational, secure, properly maintained, and available to guests.

The Slot Technician Manager works closely with Slot Operations, Casino Operations, Surveillance, Security, Internal Controls, Compliance, and outside gaming equipment vendors to maintain a safe, efficient, and compliant gaming environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate Slot Technicians.
  • Coordinate daily assignments, schedules, breaks, and workload to ensure adequate technical coverage.
  • Oversee the installation, removal, relocation, conversion, and maintenance of slot machines and related gaming equipment.
  • Ensure slot machines are properly functioning and returned to service in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, and communication issues with gaming equipment.
  • Monitor slot machine performance and identify recurring equipment problems or maintenance trends.
  • Ensure all repairs and service calls are properly documented.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine maintenance, parts, repairs, conversions, and equipment movement.
  • Ensure all slot equipment is handled in accordance with Louisiana gaming regulations, company policies, Internal Controls, and established procedures.
  • Maintain strict adherence to access-control and dual-control requirements.
  • Ensure only properly licensed and authorized personnel access gaming devices and restricted areas.
  • Coordinate with Slot Operations and other departments regarding machine moves, game changes, outages, and floor configurations.
  • Work with manufacturers and outside vendors on equipment repairs, upgrades, software updates, and technical issues.
  • Monitor inventory of parts, tools, supplies, and technical equipment.
  • Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and cost control for the Slot Technical Department.
  • Review invoices, service documentation, and vendor work for accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe technical work area.
  • Ensure technicians follow all applicable safety procedures when working with electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Respond to significant equipment failures and technical emergencies.
  • Assist with investigations involving malfunctioning equipment, jackpots, disputed transactions, or other technical concerns when requested.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding equipment issues that may affect guest service, revenue, security, or compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding gaming equipment, security procedures, system information, and company operations.
  • Ensure department employees understand and follow Louisiana Downs policies, procedures, and the Winning Way standards.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, compliance reviews, and regulatory inquiries as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Leadership Responsibilities
The Slot Technician Manager is expected to:

  • Regulatory & Internal Control Responsibilities

The Slot Technician Manager must maintain a thorough understanding of applicable Louisiana gaming regulations and Louisiana Downs Internal Controls. The manager is responsible for ensuring that all slot technical activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements, approved procedures, and company standards.

Requirements Required

High school diploma or GED.

Previous casino Slot Technician supervisory or management experience.

Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read and understand technical documentation and equipment manuals.

Working knowledge of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and computer-based gaming systems.

Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced casino environment.

Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.

Must be able to obtain and maintain all required Louisiana gaming licenses and credentials.

Preferred

Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent specialized training in electronics, electrical technology, computer technology, or a related field.

Experience with slot management systems and casino gaming technology.

Experience working with multiple gaming manufacturers.

Experience working in a regulated casino environment.
