Your primary responsibilities often include ensuring the safety of clients, responding to any disturbances or emergencies, assisting with bedtime or morning routines, and completing any required documentation. To excel in a Sleepover role—commonly referring to an overnight caregiver or support worker in fields like childcare, disability support, or aged care—you need a solid understanding of overnight supervision, emergency response, and client care, often supported by first aid/CPR certification and background checks. Familiarity with incident reporting tools, communication logs, and safety protocols is important for recording and maintaining a safe environment. Compassion, patience, and strong observational skills are critical soft skills for building trust and addressing clients' nighttime needs. These competencies ensure safety, comfort, and a high standard of care during overnight hours when clients are most vulnerable.
