Senior Software Engineer - Backend (Integrations)

Read AI, Inc.

Seattle, WA • On-site

$180 - $210/hr

Job description

About Us:

At Read AI we’re redefining how teams collaborate by bringing intelligence to every conversation. Our platform supercharges productivity across meetings, messages, and email, so work gets done faster, smarter, and with better focus. We integrate seamlessly with tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Slack, and more, helping teams stay aligned and move forward, whether they’re in the same room or across time zones.

Backed by $81 million in funding from Smash Capital, Madrona, and Goodwater Capital, Read AI is growing. If you're excited to shape the future of AI-powered collaboration and want to make an impact at a product-focused startup, we’d love to meet you.

The Role:

The Integrations team owns the systems that connect Read AI to the outside world — from OAuth2 connections and credential management, to event‑driven pipelines that pull data in from platforms like Google, Microsoft, Slack, Zoom, and Salesforce, to services that push Read AI data back out. This is an event‑driven architecture built on Kafka and SQS, supporting both foundational infrastructure used across the company and product‑facing integration features.

As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you'll help design new integrations, improve the scalability and reliability of existing systems, and contribute to how the team standardizes integration patterns going forward — all while the user base grows quickly and the demands on these systems increase.

What You'll Do:
  • Contribute to system design for new third‑party integrations, from OAuth2 connection through data sync
  • Ship integration features end‑to‑end, working across push and pull data flows
  • Help standardize and generalize integration patterns to make future integrations faster to build
  • Design clean, well‑structured APIs to support integration features and platform services
Improve scalability and reliability:
  • Work within the team's event‑driven infrastructure (Kafka, SQS, CDC streaming, webhook processing) to improve reliability as usage scales
  • Come up to speed on the current architecture and help evolve it to handle rapid growth
Build visibility into system health:
  • Build dashboards and tooling that give engineering and product teams visibility into the health and success of integration systems and features
Collaborate with the team:
  • Bring senior‑level experience and judgment to technical discussions and design decisions
  • Work closely with teammates who know the current systems deeply, while helping push them forward
What We're Looking For:
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful time in backend/distributed systems
  • Strong experience with event‑driven architectures (Kafka, SQS, or similar)
  • Strong API design skills, particularly for services operating in distributed, event‑driven systems
  • Familiarity with the third‑party API integration problem domain (OAuth2, webhooks, rate limits)
  • Strong experience in at least one backend language (Python, Java, or similar), with the willingness and ability to ramp up in Python
  • Comfort navigating and improving an established, production codebase
  • Strong system design skills
Why This Role Matters:

Every integration that Read AI ships depends on this team's systems working reliably at scale. As our user base grows quickly, the quality of this infrastructure directly shapes how many third‑party tools we can support and how well those connections hold up. This role has a real, visible impact on the product.

Benefits:

Software Engineer positions offer a base pay range of $180,000 - $210,000, plus equity and benefits. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer low deductible health plans, as well as flexible time away and family leave programs.

Please note: Our company does not provide visa support or sponsorship for employees.
