We are currently seeking respite Skills Instructors for our Program located across Middlesex County. This position provides 1:1 assistance and direct skills instruction for individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities including Autism, Down Syndrome and general cognitive limitations.
Individuals in the program range in age from 10 - 22 and are all students currently enrolled in a school based program. The skills instructor may also carry over skills learned in school, which might include the supervision and implementation of a behavior plan. The skills instructor will work with the identified individual to identify appropriate community activities and provide support for follow-up.

SHIFTS
3 โ 10 hours per week, schedule varies and is dependent upon individualโs needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working in the individual's home, the skills instructor's role is to provide support that will allow the individual to gain access to their community.
- Working as part of a family team and under the guidance of a family initiated and supervised set of goals; the skills instructor will provide and support participation in leisure and recreation activities.
- Create and support appropriate in-home and community-based activities based on individualโs strengths and interests and based on the program goals and objectives
- Work in conjunction with other professionals (school personnel and therapists) involved with the individual and the family
- Provide transportation for the individual as necessary
- Document weekly activities and progress towards goal mastery
- High school diploma required, a degree in education, psychology, social work or other related field is preferred. This qualification may be waived if the applicant has appropriate experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Valid Driver license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
- Acceptable CORI report and suitable fingerprint results required.
