General Statement of Duties
BANC is an afterschool program that dedicates itself to the surrounding community by nurturing children in their social and emotional growth and provides them with an opportunity to explore the world through play and interaction with other children. The program serves 90 children ages 5-12 years old who reside in the Byram community. Most of the children who attend the program attend the New Lebanon elementary school.
Job responsibilities include:
-Providing childcare to afterschool children.
-Assisting counselors and other staff supervising children and facilitating activities.
-Providing assistance with arts & crafts activities, sporting activities, free play activities, etc.
-Assisting and supervising the children at the afterschool program.
-Assisting the children with homework and reading groups.
-Attending field trips and in-service exhibits with the children.
-Ensuring a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children.
-Assisting with daily tasks, participating in activities, and offering support to children.
-Demonstrating positivity and respect to children, staff and parents.
Qualifications
Requirements
All applicants must be at least 16 years of age or older. Applicants must be available to work Monday-Friday from 3:00pm - 5:30 pm (program runs from September 2025 to June 2026).
Applicants will be required to complete at State of CT background check and fingerprinting
Supplemental Information
All positions may be subject to an interview process. The Town reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be invited to participate in the recruitment, or any part thereof.
All outside candidates will be required to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test that includes testing for THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), given at the Town's expense prior to employment if conditionally offered a part time, full time or safety sensitive position.
The Town of Greenwich has implemented a policy of background investigations all full and part time positions prior to hiring as part of the reference checking procedures for outside candidates. The investigation will only be conducted as the last step prior to an offer. Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate's further consideration.
Candidates hired into unrepresented positions are not eligible for benefit coverage.
