  • Winter Ice Rink Season - October-March
  • Summer Roller Rink Season- April- September

General Purpose

Performs various guard and cashier duties, in addition to administrative work in a multi-purpose sports environment. Works under the general supervision of the Full-Time Recreation Manager. Supervises seasonal rink guards and cashiers, and other non-supervisory seasonal employees in the Recreation Division.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises rink public sessions, classes, rentals, and activities. Enforces skating safety rules and regulations, schedules staff, supervises the Seasonal Rink Guards and Cashiers
  • Supervises, assists in the cleaning and maintenance of the rink, skate and pro shop, concession stand, and adjacent areas; checks and maintains proper skating surface; completes and maintains proper documentation and records in the operation of a municipal rink
  • Exhibits a professional image, behavior, appearance, and demeanor at all times
  • Conducts in-service training for staff members
  • Works to ensure that every patron has a positive experience. Responds to internal and external requests without delay
  • Maintains strict confidence in all matters; works well with fellow staff members; treats all individuals with dignity and respect
  • Arrives to work on time and as scheduled. Is responsible and reliable in attendance
  • Handles equipment and resources in a proper manner for optimum usage. Maintains a proper inventory level for items used in a municipal multi-sport environment and concession environment, controlling costs and utilizing work time efficiently

  • Drives the Zamboni and performs ice maintenance daily. (if working ice rink)
  • Performs other duties as requested
  • This is a safety sensitive position

Peripheral Duties

Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties including clerical, custodial, painting, and departmental errands.


Special Requirements

  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Ability to drive and operate a surface cleaning machine.
  • Knowledge and ability to use basic computer software, ability to operate a cash register
  • Ability to demonstrate professional public relations skills, and have effective interpersonal and communication skills

Tools and Equipment Used

Zamboni, water pumps, power tools, ice edger, Vacuum pump, leaf blower, cleaning surface machine, scoreboard controller, telephone, calculator, other items that would normally be associated with the operation of a municipal ice rink or Roller rink.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hand to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include closed vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 or older
  • High School or equivalent (some college preferred)
  • CPR (adult-child-infant) Certification by a nationally accredited organization or willing to obtain 30 days after hire.
  • AED Certification by a nationally accredited organization.
  • First Aid Certification by a nationally accredited organization. or willing to obtain 30 days after hire
